The Unexpected Summoning Ch.14 (Harry Potter/High School DxD)

Harry was impressed by the field of swords he could see in the distance. “Is that Kiba’s doing?”
“It is, but I didn’t know he could cover an area that large.”
Harry looked up at Akeno but quickly averted his eyes when he caught an eyeful of bare skin due to her loose skirt. It honestly felt ridiculous acting like a virginal boy, especially when he had seen far more of Akeno than her perfect legs, but he had been hyper-aware of the fact that this was broadcasted. He didn’t want to be known as the man who couldn’t keep his hands off Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima.
… Then again, those two were surely highly desired devils, if Riser’s determination to win this rating game was any indication. Maybe it would be best if Harry staked his claim on them like some sort of primitive savage.
“Looks like Issei and Kiba found a perfect partnership,” Akeno chuckled when they got closer to see the two boys bump fists.
“Huh,” Harry looked at the blood-stained swords sticking out of the ground, “I’m guessing Issei had something to do with helping Kiba with this?”
“Our cute Pawn has a convenient ability to transfer his power. With Kiba being the recipient, this was the result.”
Harry disagreed with the statement of Issei being cute, but that was quite a nifty ability.
“Akeno-san! Harry-sensei! I knew you could do it! I hope you gave the awesome-boobed bitch a spanking!”
Harry, who was now used to his lover’s Pawn, skipped over how the nickname for Yubelluna changed. “Thank you, Issei. And congratulations to you on winning your battle. With most of Riser’s firepower taken out, should we attack him directly?”
“No!”
Harry turned around to see a girl around the size of Asia and Koneko glaring at them furiously.
“You won’t get the chance to even see my brother! I’m going to defeat all of you!”
“Hey!” Issei pointed at the girl with shock, “How are you still here? Kiba’s attack should have taken you out.”
“Hmph, you think something at that level can take out a Phenex? I, Ravel Phenex, will show you why we’re considered immortal!”
Harry stood behind Issei as the perverted Pawn started arguing with the girl. He turned to Akeno, and any amusement he felt quickly left him. She wasn’t paying attention to what was happening in front of them, but was instead looking in the direction of their base.
“Akeno? What do you see?”
“Riser is protective of his sister, even in something harmless like a rating game. The only reason he wouldn’t come to her rescue is—”
BOOM!
Harry flinched in shock when he felt his wards failing one by one. The blast shredded what Harry put up to protect the clubhouse, with the one to protect against magical attacks holding on briefly before yielding.
The only positive was that Grayfia hadn’t announced a loss of either Asia or the rating game itself since that would be the case if Rias was eliminated.
“Wait for me to come back, Akeno,” Harry said quickly before twisting in place to apparate.
He appeared before a demolished building with flames still trying to burn the rubble to ashes. Harry found it difficult to believe that Rias or Asia could survive an attack that caused this level of damage.
“You’re here.”
Harry turned to see Riser Phenex floating in the air with Rias and Asia imprisoned in a ball of fire.
“Harry! He’s stronger than we expected! Get some backup!”
“Yes, Harry,” Riser sneered, “Run away to get some help.”
The blatant attempt to goad Harry into a fight would have worked. Not that he needed another reason. Seeing Rias inside that ball of fire brought up the familiar feeling that Harry last experienced during the war with Voldemort.
Even though Harry knew Rias was in no mortal danger, seeing her trapped and helpless quickly rid him of any hesitation in using Tom. But first, he tried to free Rias from her prison.
“It’s not going to work. You could only overpower me the last time because I didn’t expect it.”
“Is that what you told yourself?” Harry shot back.
He narrowed his eyes at Riser and gripped the small knife that appeared in his hands.
[Finally!]
Harry appeared in front of Riser with a sharp crack, surprising the devil momentarily before he regained his bearings. Just in time to barely dodge the swipe Harry made at him.
Riser would have usually let the attack hit his body and watched his opponent despair as he healed with no damage. However, his every instinct was yelling at him to avoid the black knife in Harry’s hands.
When the knife didn’t meet its target, Harry didn’t pay it any mind and used his free hand to point at the fiery prison, levitating himself to stay in the air. His previous try had failed, but Harry could feel that Riser had fought off his magic with an influx of power to maintain the prison.
It wasn’t enough to stop Harry if he really wanted to break Rias out, but that would have taken a more deliberate attempt. One that would give Riser too much time to do something that would make all of this pointless, like taking Rias out of the game.
That brought up a question in Harry’s mind. Why hadn’t Riser ended the rating game with Rias under his mercy?
Riser growled when he felt his fire getting forcefully smothered. He felt like he had been smacked in the face right after he claimed that Harry couldn’t overpower him like before. Riser couldn’t even make a move to get Rias and her servant back in his clutches. Harry had apparated to reach the girls instantly and left the area with a small pop.
“Buchou! Asia-chan!” Issei exclaimed in relief, “You’re alright!”
“What happened to my brother?”
Harry glanced at Riser’s younger sister before looking back to the destroyed clubroom. “We don’t have much time. I underestimated Riser. I didn’t think he could bring down my wards that easily.”
Harry was mentally berating himself. He had the danger of underestimating his opponent repeatedly pounded into his head by Grayfia over the past week. If he had used more of his magic to power the wards, he would have been able to get to the ORC before it had been destroyed.
In Harry’s defense, he mainly did that to conserve his magic. With how hopeless Rias seemed about beating Riser, and after seeing their full-powered attacks, Harry had expected a much more brutal fight with the opposing peerage.
That had been blatantly untrue. Yubelluna was the Queen piece and supposedly the strongest, but she hadn’t even been able to fight against his magic to free herself. The shocking part to Harry was that he had barely been trying. It almost felt like he was holding a first-year student helplessly in the air.
[I keep telling you that you could only lose if you are careless. Stop looking at yourself in terms of your old world.]
It was one of the rare times Harry felt Tom was being helpful.
“Akeno, how strong is Yubelluna compared to you and Rias?” Harry asked as he eyed the figure of Riser in the distance. The Phenex was coming closer rapidly.
“Hm?” Akeno gave Harry a curious look, “There wouldn’t be too much difference between us. If you wanted me to pick the strongest, I would say Rias.”
“And how strong would you say Riser is compared to all of you?”
“Hmph! My brother can take Rias-sama’s entire peerage by himself! He just wanted us to gain some experience.”
Harry ignored the overly proud girl and gave a look to Rias and Akeno, silently asking if what she said was true.
When the girls reluctantly agreed with the younger Phenex, Harry realized that his newly found ease of command with his magic had made him more formidable than he thought. Harry supposed it should have been obvious.
The biggest crutch in his old world had been the necessity of saying an incantation to cast most spells. Being required to use a wand certainly didn’t help, either. With those two no longer required, his use of magic had almost become instinctive.
If Harry desired something to happen, his magic would act before his command. That was especially true in his fights so far. When he needed to make superhuman movements to avoid an attack, his magic would have already reinforced his body to make that possible.
“I told you!”
Harry looked irritated at the petite blonde and asked Issei, “Why is she still here? Shouldn’t you have taken care of her?”
“Right,” Issei pumped his fist, “Get ready to have your clothes stripped off, Ravel!”
Harry rolled his eyes at Issei when the blonde girl shrieked in response and backed away. “Akeno, Kiba, protect Rias while I deal with Riser. We don’t want to lose because of a cheap shot against her.”
“Understood,” Kiba nodded firmly and stood in front of Rias while Akeno winked and said, “As you order, sir.”
Harry reminded himself to teach Akeno the proper time to be a tease.
[If you are done flirting with her, Riser is here.]
Before Harry could see Riser, a massive fireball roared toward a hapless Issei as a greeting gift. He immediately raised a hand to send a rush of water to meet the attack head-on while summoning Issei with the other and throwing him to Rias.
Harry felt a slight drop in his reserves by the time his spell had negated the attack. He estimated it would be of no issue if Riser continuously sent an equivalent of that attack for an hour. The real question was if Riser was capable of that.
“Impressive,” Riser said as he stood beside his sister, “It seems you have some skill to back up your boldness. However, that doesn’t change the fact that you are a mere reincarnated devil. I’m sure you are exhausted after that feat. How many more can you block?”
“I’m sure it’ll be more than enough,” Harry replied truthfully. From what Riser implied, that attack was something significant.
“Good! I’ll see how confident you’ll be at the end,” Riser said with a laugh, “But first, I have to get rid of the other irritant.”
Harry tensed, ready to move at the slightest twitch Riser made.
“Rias, I didn’t end the rating game when I had the chance. It was only because I wanted to teach your lover a lesson. But your lecherous Pawn has no reason to still be here.”
“Don’t even think about it!” Rias pulled Issei behind her and threatened Riser by gathering her power in her hand.
“You want to attack your future husband?” Riser asked with a laugh, “Go ahead. It’ll show Harry how hopeless this fight is.”
“Shut up, asshole!” Rias screamed as she hurled the power of destruction at Riser’s face, “You are not my future husband!”
Riser didn’t bother to dodge, and Harry blinked in surprise when half of the Phenex’s head was erased, leaving a scorched black mess in its place.
“Give up, Rias. You’ll never be able to beat me with this as your best. If you, as the King, are so weak, how do you expect your servants to do better? I applaud you for getting this far. I never thought that my Queen would be taken down, however, this is the end.”
Harry wasn’t sure what was more disturbing. The fact that Riser was talking with half of his blown off or that he seemed to find some sort of pleasure in reforming said blown-off face.
“Just think of all the fun you and I could have,” Riser’s half-formed lips were in a smirk, “I wouldn’t mind letting your Queen join—”
CRACK!
Riser’s sentence was cut off by a bolt of lightning that destroyed the rest of his head. Harry could see it already reforming, but he accomplished what he set out to do. Making the prick shut up.
“I approve, Harry,” Akeno giggled, “That’s a fine way to use lightning.”
{Break}
“Impossible…” Ajuka muttered as he looked through the data he was getting from Harry’s evil piece, “This doesn’t make any sense.”
Sirzechs was reluctant to stop the death glare he was giving Riser, but when Ajuka said something was interesting, he truly meant it.
“What do you see?” Sirzechs walked over to look at what Ajuka was reading and immediately regretted it. Give him something to kill, and Sirzechs would take care of it without problems, but what Ajuka enjoyed looking at gave him a splitting headache.
“When the sacred gear was used, I was able to confirm that it was related to death… but none of the major gods were involved.”
“Really?” Sirzechs looked with surprise at Harry just in time to see him destroy Riser’s head. He mentally added a point in favor of the boy for that. “So does this mean this was a hidden Longinus?”
“No,” Ajuka denied firmly, “It was newly created. If we didn’t know he died at the end of the Great War, I would have thought he had just created it. Harry’s sacred gear is that good.”
“Beelzebub-sama, how can you be sure none of the gods created Harry-sama’s sacred gear?”
“They represent the aspect of Death in our worlds,” Ajuka replied as he shifted through the constantly updated data, “However when they bless mortals, it is their divinity they share. No matter how much they try to hide it, something like a sacred gear will always show a hint of it. We’ve seen how the previous attempts of replicating them worked.”
Grayfia nodded, remembering the short time some gods gave humans their own version of a sacred gear. It had been a brief fad that quickly disappeared.
“Harry doesn’t have any signs of a god involved, but he does have the aspect of Death emanating from the sacred gear.”
Sirzechs and Grayfia stared at Ajuka silently, wondering if that meant what they thought it did.
“So…,” It wasn’t often that Sirzechs was struggling to form words.
“Sirzechs, I usually leave recruitment to you and Serafall, but Harry cannot be lost. I suggest we kill him if we can’t be sure his loyalty is to the devil race.”
“You're sure no god is protecting him?” Sirzechs asked seriously, discarding his previous plans for Harry and forming new ones.
“Yes, to think so would be foolish,” Ajuka confirmed, “Harry Potter has the potential to match Hades if his body doesn’t break down. No god would allow a human to replace them, no matter how altruistic they might be. You know as well as I that gods guard their divinity jealously.”
There was a brief silence before Grayfia broke it.
“Beelzebub-sama, Lucifer-sama, it might be best to leave this matter to me.”
