SFW Preview: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man App

Hello all, I hope everyone is enjoying the update so far! In between bug fixing the update, I have began working on laying the groundwork for the future. As such, I'm presenting a new method of taking on missions: The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man App, or FNSM for short.

If you've played the newer Playstation Spider-Man titles, the idea will probably sound decently familiar. For those out of the loop, this "app" in the game will allow Silk to take on missions once she gains access to it. So, what's the point? We already have patrols, right? I'm glad you asked.

Patrolling the streets unlocks replayable stories that are intended to be built up throughout the course of the game and evolve over time. They provide broader story beats and optional erotic content. New patrols are unlocked in a specific pattern by exploration and while later variations may be locked behind corruption requirements, the base patrol never is.

FNSM Requests, however, will be unlocked based on Silk's accumulated skills throughout the course of her journey. This means that requests will be tailored to the player's preferred content, or at least what they've encountered so far. Not every single request will be erotic, but the majority will. Therefore, if it has a required skill, the content will be related to that fetish. The most important distinction, however, is that FNSM requests will be one-off events that rarely have more to follow up on. After all, NYC is a big place, so there will be plenty of encounters with people that Silk will never see again.

Why should you do requests? Well, besides the obvious in that they are more erotic scenes for your viewing pleasure, Silk will grow in infamy as she undertakes more and more requests. Certain requests might only be viewable once Silk has gained enough infamy. I'm still workshopping ideas on how exactly I want this to play out, but that's the basic idea. Ultimately, this system should be a reward for partaking in other content and should never be something you have to mindlessly grind for.

Again, why can't these just be patrols? There's a couple of reasons. The first is that this will allow me to make more interesting one-off scenes without planning for some future big payoff or writing ahead. All of these should be mostly self-contained, with minimal callbacks to prior content. If any of these are well received and the community wants to see a continuation, that will always remain an option. The second is that the patrol map is already feeling a little crowded and some existing events could stand to be removed. Some patrols aren't fleshed out enough and have minimal plans for future expansion, so transitioning them into a request will declutter the map and allow me to have a heightened focus on fleshing out existing patrols. Beyond that, I have some quality of life upgrades in mind for the patrol map planned so trimming the fat will be beneficial for the future.

TL;DR - The new FNSM app in game will allow Silk to partake in smaller scope one-off erotic/nonerotic scenes based on her prior experiences. Patrols are going to be more focused on providing fetish specific long-form storylines.
