Actually, Kim and Ron were supposed to end up together from the very beginning (one of the creators said so himself).

So, I’d like the next recording session to hear your thoughts on the following behind the scenes info for this movie and the show (no spoilers, don’t worry), as it’s kinda interesting going forwards. So, one of the reasons Drakken was such a big threat this movie and nearly succeeded is because this movie was supposed to be the shows finale. Disney back then had a rule/guideline they went with for the perfect number of episodes for a show before it became stale and so KP was meant to end as this 3 part episode/movie would have reached that episode number. The shows writers really pushed for a Season 4 and the fans were really on board so Disney broke their almost ironclad rule and greenlit Season 4 of Kim Possible.
I found it interesting you said they broke the mould and didn’t end the show on the big romance, when originally that’s exactly what they did. It’s also interesting thinking of Season 4 as the season that was never meant to be or like a bonus season. Given this was the very last season of the show for real they decide to pull out all the stops.
The Ron/Kim romance was only due to fans. The writers got feedback from fans about shipping Ron and Kim and so they did a sort of test in the form of that episode with the Moodulators where we had a temporary Ron/Kim and Shego/Drakken and the feedback was overwhelming for Ron/Kim so they did it for this original show finale.
I dunno, just always found that info kinda interesting and neat. Looking forwards to hearing your thoughts about it next recording session! 🙂
