Couple things you missed: 1) Subaru does not remember meating Echidna. She said her compensation was for him not to tell anybody, but he clearly forgot entirely. He didn't even remember that he had the qualification to take the trial and ran after Emilia anyways (even knowing what it did to Roswaal) 2) The qualification to take the trial is being mixed-blood. Roswaal got injured because he is human and tried to take the trial. Subaru is an exception because Echidna gave him direct permission.
