City Lord Chapter 351
Added 2025-04-02 20:03:01 +0000 UTCIn the Royal City of Siacan, within Princess Lucy's courtyard in the palace.
At this moment, an unpleasant conversation was taking placeâor rather, it was a one-sided command, with one party demanding that the other comply with his wishes.
"Lucy, as your elder brother, you should support me more. Once I become king, I will surely treat you well." Said Prince Lucia with great sincerity.
"Well..." Lucy shrank back slightly, her voice timid. "Brother, please allow me some time to think about it."
"Think about it?" Prince Lucia frowned but soon relaxed his expression and laughed heartily. "Alright, take your time. When you've made up your mind, give me an answer."
Without waiting for Lucyâs response, Prince Lucia rose to his feet, flicked his sleeve, and strode out of the courtyard. The moment he turned away, his face darkened like ink.
âPhewâŠâ
Lucy watched as the prince departed, patting her chest and letting out a soft sigh of relief. Life hasn't been easy for her lately.
Over the past few days, Prince Lucia, the Second Prince, and the Fourth Prince had been taking turns sending messengers to pressure her. They all wanted her to write a novel featuring them as the main protagonist.
Writing wasnât the issueâbut they wanted to dictate the plot, the villains, and even the ending. The story had to glorify their greatness, highlight their many achievements, and, of course, conveniently vilify their rivalsâtheir competitors for the throne. Naturally, every version of the story ended with them becoming king.
How was she supposed to write that? She simply couldnât. Even if she could, she wouldnât dare. Their father would surely reprimand her, and besides, she had no desire to write such a thing. It completely went against her original aspirations and beliefs.
And so, Princess Lucy feigned illness, refusing to leave her courtyard or meet with anyone. Yet, even this couldnât shield her. Prince Lucia personally came knockingâor rather, forced his way inâclaiming to be concerned about his little sisterâs health.
But the moment she turned him down, he stormed off in anger, flicking his sleeve as he left. That alone made it painfully clear to Lucyâher brothers only wanted to exploit her influence among the nobility and merchants to bolster their own reputations.
*
Prince Lucia walked away with a dark expression, fury simmering in his chest. Consider it? To him, that was already a rejection. How audacious! A wild princess born of a lowly concubine dared to refuse him?
Unfortunately, he had spent years carefully crafting the image of a refined and charming prince. Losing his temper now would ruin everything. Otherwise, he would have slammed the table and berated Lucy on the spot. She dares to hesitate over my request? What, is she planning to write a book for that barbarian, Greena, instead?
Tap, tap, tapâŠ
His boots struck the stone pavement as he walked, his mind already turning over his next move.
Lucia had barely stepped out of the courtyard when his eyes fell on someone he utterly despisedâthe Second Prince, Greena.
That barbarian. The one who posed the greatest threat to his claim to the throne.
"Oh? If it isnât my dear younger brother," Lucia said with a beaming smile, his tone warm and friendly. "What brings you here? Have you come to visit little sister Lucy as well?"
His voice was full of false cheer, but deep down, he could barely restrain his urge to run a sword through Greenaâs chest.
"Hmph⊠mind your own business," Greena scoffed, his tone cold. He curled his lips in disdain. "Looks like you're trying to get something from our little sister too. So? Did she agree to your request?"
"She said she'd think about it," Lucia replied smoothly, a glint of frost flashing through his half-lidded eyes. He stepped past Greena, throwing out a casual remark as he walked away, "I hope you succeed."
"âŠ"
Greena turned his head, watching Luciaâs retreating figure. He could hear the hidden meaning in his brother's wordsâespecially the way Lucia had emphasized succeed. It was a veiled jab, an insinuation that Greena was doomed to fail.
"Just wait and see." Greena muttered coldly.
Without hesitation, he strode toward Princess Lucyâs courtyard. Unlike his elder brother, he didnât bother with pleasantries. Instead of knocking, he simply shoved the door open with force.
This was Greenaâs nature. If Lucia played the role of the refined and elegant noble, then Greena was the blunt and straightforward warrior. Or, to put it less kindlyâhe was just plain hot-tempered.
"BANG!"
The heavy door slammed against the wall.
The courtyard door burst open with a loud BANG, the wooden panels slamming against the wall. A booming voice followed immediately after.
"Lucy! Your second brother is here to see you!"
"UghâŠ"
Lucy, who had just started to relax, tensed up again. Her eyes widened as she nervously watched Greena stride into the courtyard.
If Prince Lucia still had some regard for etiquette and refrained from crossing certain lines, then Greena was the complete oppositeâhe had never cared for formalities. He had a history of pointing at peopleâs noses and cursing them out in public without a second thought.
Lucy quickly rose to her feet, pinching the hem of her dress as she performed a nobleâs curtsy.
"Greetings, Second Brother."
"Ah, drop all that fake politeness." Greena waved dismissively, his voice as casual as ever. Then, without the slightest hesitation, he got straight to the point.
"Lucy, about the matter I mentioned beforeâwhat do you think?"
He got straight to the point. "Big Brother was just here, wasnât he? He mustâve asked you the same thing. You were right to turn him down! But you should help me write the novel instead!"
Greena patted his chest confidently. "Look at me! Iâm good-looking, arenât I? And I can slay enemies! If dragons were real, Iâd be the first to go out and kill oneâno problem at all!"
"âŠ"
Lucy blinked, momentarily stunned as Greena rambled on, jumping from one wild claim to another. When he got particularly excited, he even started waving his arms around, as if reenacting his future heroic feats.
"Well? What do you think?" Greena finally paused and looked at her, frowning. "This is really important to me. If I become king, Iâll make sure your novels are promoted throughout the entire kingdom!"
Of course, when he said promote her novels, what he actually meant was making sure every citizen get a copy of The Autobiography of King Greenaâa grand tale of his unparalleled strength and glory.
âThisâŠâ Lucyâs face showed hesitation. Her small hands twisted together, and she looked timidly at Greena. âSecond Brother, please⊠give me some time to think about it.â
âThink? Whatâs there to think about?â Greena slammed both hands on the stone table, his eyes wide with frustration. âDonât tell me youâre planning to write for that fat pig?â
âIâŠâ Lucy instinctively shrank back, her golden eyes filled with fear. She shook her head frantically. âNo, thatâs not itâŠâ
âThen what is it?â Greena leaned in closer, his voice gruff and impatient. âAre you even my little sister or not? If you wonât even do me this tiny favor, then whatâs the point?â
âThisâŠâ Lucy bit her lip, her expression helpless. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. She truly didnât know what to do.
âOh, now youâre gonna cry?â Greena scowled and raised a hand, reaching for her hair. If she wouldnât agree willingly, then heâd just have to force her.
Today, no matter what, he was going to make Lucy write that novel for him.
He knew his reputation wasnât great, and the only way to salvage it was by borrowing Lucyâs prestige. For the throne, he was willing to do anythingâno matter how ruthless.
"Whoosh!"
A small stone shot through the air, striking Greenaâs arm with pinpoint accuracy.
"Ah!"
Greena let out a pained grunt, instinctively clutching his arm as he staggered back a step. His pupils shrank as he fixated on the figure rushing toward him.
But what truly made his heart pound wasnât just the sudden attackâit was the gleaming claw blades in the personâs hand, shimmering with deadly intent.
"Jones, stop!" Lucy gasped in alarm.
The razor-sharp claw blade halted just a hairâs breadth from Greenaâs throat.
A pair of crimson eyes locked onto himâcold, arrogant, and laced with a lethal mystery. There was an almost hypnotic danger in them, an undeniable allure that sent a chill down Greenaâs spine.
