Map schedule for June - And a request for new map ideas!

Hello Adventurers! It’s time for an update on our map schedule for June. Recently I’ve tried to create three different types of maps per month, a building or facility, a more fantastical map, and a wilderness map. I think this works well and gives you a bit of variety in my releases. So this month will be as follows:

Map ideas

I could really do with your suggestions on themes and ideas for new maps! Most of my maps have been created with your input and it’s really helpful to get feedback from all you talented DMs and creative souls! Message me or comment below with your ideas!

New frost/snow map (FREE addon to the last release)

And finally, I’ve also added a new download (extra zip file) to the last release, a frosty forest version for all tiers!

Base - Explorer Tier

All - Delver Tier

That’s it for this update, have a great rest of the week, thank you for your continued support, and as always happy adventuring!

Two map types I can't get enough of—flooded landscapes/towns, and rocky deserts (not rolling sand dunes, rather flat sandy scrubland). Wait, three—also floating islands!

Fox Lee

A Greek city in flames. A golden treasury with some hidden chambers.

Justin

Jungle Ruins; war camps; river lands; wizard's tower; manor house...I really enjoy your maps; they're versatile and inspiring. ^_^

Thanks Joe! Hopefully the Stormdrain map I'm working on currently will be another one you can use. I'll certainly be doing more in this vein in the future :D Definitely a warehouse will be appearing soon as that's something I know almost everyone will find useful!

Afternoon Maps

Hi there, absolutely loving your maps. I've been running a seedy gang war drama down in the docks district of waterdeep and have used several of your maps for that. More city stuff is always welcome, dockfront or not. (Seedy Bars, Brothels, sewer smuggling lairs, dockside markets, storage yards, back alleys, gang lairs etc etc) As for general maps, a variety of camps or cave lairs where goblinoids or kobolds are living? Temporary or permanent (Woods/Cave etc) A series of linked areas that could be used for a bigger adventure? Keep up the excellent work!

Joe Antoney-Wattam

I really do like this idea Kepvar. This could would very well for a Mad Mage style dungeon crawl. :)

Afternoon Maps

I love the Arabic flat roof style housing for battle maps, so much space for combat :) I'll be sure to expand on what I have already Yuliya :)

Afternoon Maps

Mini-Dungeon Suggestion: A series of catacomb rooms and passages that GMs can network as desired. Since it's not outdoors, there's probably no need for seasonal variants, but there could be straight, T-junction. and X-junction passages lined with grave niches, along with some more elaborate rooms where the more prestigious dead lie entombed in sarcophagi. If each map in the series is given a number (or range of numbers, depending on commonality), then the networks could be randomly generated.

Keovar

The Storm Drain - I'm looking forward to! I have now switched to cyberpunk games, but I will definitely need an atreen of arabic city and an oriental Arabic style house for future Midgard company.

I strongly support your idea to add to existing maps :)

Marco Bizzarri

Thanks so much, Sparabel, I love seeing my maps on Twitch and YouTube :D

Afternoon Maps

A walled garden mixed into a hedge maze would be cool actually.

Afternoon Maps

Ya I like the Caldera idea, lots of variant possibilities Kufe :)

Afternoon Maps

I really like tropical maps, they are so bright and vibrant. I'll be sure to be creating more in the future!

Afternoon Maps

Thanks Arthur :)

Afternoon Maps

(Also we're running oneshots on Twitch every week and I've been using a lot of your maps and plugging the crap out of your work because it makes my job so much easier, so thank you so much for being amazing. :) <3 )

I went looking through your back catalogue for a walled garden or a labyrinth and didn't find such a thing. That might be fun? :)

Maybe some sort of caldera? Different versions could be: A overgrown tropical version, a rocky version, an active volcano version and ofcourse a flooded version. Thats one of alot of ideas :D

I'm running Tomb of Annihilation right now so any jungle/tropical themes would be perfect for me. You have so many maps already that are perfect for me, and I'm super excited to see what else you come up with.

Your schedule looks great! I loved your Ratkin's nest map!

Arthur Grenier

I've thought about doing a city dump, and I can imagine that would be quite toxic, but a more hazardous site with some seriously dangerous-looking waste, maybe magical, would be something unique. I shall ponder on this one. Thanks Wall Meat, great suggestion!

Afternoon Maps

Hey Kai G! I like all three of these ideas, your Nautiloid will always look awesome! Its a Spelljammer and Spelljammers are just dang cool. The Carnival has so many possible scenarios for encounters it's a great choice for a map. And the more city streets the better. The canal and festival just add more flavour :)

Afternoon Maps

Acid puddles! yes! YESSS!! Mwwahahahahahaha!!! ... I mean sure that sounds like a challenge ;P Dangerous environmental hazards are a really fun part of combat. I'll certainly keep this in mind when doing my layouts Cody. Thanks!

Afternoon Maps

Thanks for the suggestions William! I tend to try and make some of my variant maps into more extraplanar versions when I can. It's fun to create them so I'll certainly keep this in mind for the future!

Afternoon Maps

Something like a toxic waste dump, or alchemical disaster site?

Hey! Been a while since I've posted some suggestions. Let's have a go! 1. Biological Nautiloid. The wooden ship one was awesome but I'd looove to see your interpretation of a more fleshy, purple warped one. That would be dope. 2. A Carnival. A little generic, but a big top with maybe a few concessions stands out front and a big entrance could be really cool. Carnival maps are awesome! 3. A Venetian City street. I'm in a big of a festive mood, so I will also suggest an evening setting for a "carnival of Venice" type location complete with a gondola canal and maybe reflections in the water from fireworks overhead. Cool market stalls could be set up on the cobblestones and all sorts of awesome banners and colourful designs could be incorporated!

Kai G.

A map with lots of danger and narrow, varied pathways over or around that danger. Like acidic puddles with crisscrossing logs or rope bridges between platforms within the puddles.

I would love to see more extraplanar maps. It's hard to find good battle maps for the planes -- ethereal, shadow, astral, etc. I'm sure you would make really awesome ones.

I'm beginning to think I'll be creating a giant castle map at some point in my near future :) Seems to be a popular idea. Thanks Tyler!

Afternoon Maps

Honestly, I would love to see your take on a Shadowfell gothic castle, like a Castle Ravenloft but something more your own if that makes sense. I run my campaigns almost solely on your maps and I would love to run my parties through a castle map of your design!

Oooh, thanks for pointing me towards this Wes! I've never really gone and taken a good look at this temple on Google before. WOW! Thats some inspiration. A truly amazing place. I'll definitely keep that in mind for inspiration when I'm designing a temple/ruins in the future.

Afternoon Maps

Now I've never really done a make with lots of crystals. That would be a real challenge :) And well tree houses are just cool! Thanks for the suggestions Kai!

Afternoon Maps

Thanks Alex! Hopefully, the Pit of the Spider Queen will satisfy with the Underdark maps theme. I've also been thinking of creating a Wizard or Lich tower, so that's cool :)

Afternoon Maps

Marianne, I do like the idea of a fancy Victorian department store, I'm a sucker for that era in fiction. And I'm sure a factory would make for a fun map to create, the gears, levers, and conveyors would translate well.

Afternoon Maps

I sure I can add a hidden entrance into one or more of my future layouts. Thanks for the suggestions Vanessa!

Afternoon Maps

As you may have noticed, I enjoy incorporating water into my maps, so I'm sure I'll be creating more ocean-themed maps in the future. Thanks Michael!

Afternoon Maps

Your take on the Kailasa Temple in India would be cool. This temple was carved out of one block of stone - more like the side of a stone hill.

Wes Wong

I'd like to see a crystal ice palace or an abandoned elf village with tree houses

I'd love to see a lich's tower or underdark maps. Your stuff is great! :)

Alex Duplessie

Industrial factory maps are always welcome because there's so many ways to complicate fights with hazards like oil slicks and steam vents and conveyor belts. I always thought a fancy Victorian department store map would be hilarious as players try to use mannequins as cover or throw petticoats at attackers as an improvised net.

Marianne Rogers

Wonderful idea so far! For an upcoming arc, I’m in need of hidden sanctuaries that the party tries to uncover after traversing the wilderness (like a hidden temple behind a waterfall, a tucked away bubbled oasis in a cave after traveling underwater, a secret entrance in a nondescript plains, an old mountainside entrance with a password in a dead language etc)

I'd appreciate some more maps of ships, oceans, and underwater themes. Things like ships of different sizes and armaments, sails and arcane powered types. Maps detailing underwater caves, ocean bottom topography, and archipelago suited for pirate adventures and treasure maps. Thank you.

Love all these. I do have a couple of maps that would work for the Underwater Observatory. The Excavation and I think the other one is the Workshop... not sure what I finally called it ;) I think both have variants that are underwater lairs :D

Afternoon Maps

I've been working on those. There are certainly more to come, thanks Max :D

Afternoon Maps

Your suggestions are always fantastic Oceanicsurvivor :) So inventive, I'll have to think how to create some of these.

Afternoon Maps

Love all these! Bamboo forests would be something new and the East Asian villages would be great as well.

Afternoon Maps

You can never have enough ruins :) They work well in narratives, offer lots of options for hiding and sneaking, large winged menaces can perch on top, and they can make battles much more complex than open spaces. And for the variants you could have different disasters other than simple neglect: one covered in ash. Covered in (mostly) solidified lava. Overtaken by glowing fungus. Flooded out. So I would love: Ruined Wizard's Tower (maybe with a upper level or two of diminishing size as the crumbling increases) Ruined village (remains of an inn, shed, maybe other buildings?) Ruins with architecture that feels more specific to races: Dwarf temple ruin, Elven tower ruin, mindflayer lair, etc. Ruined outpost—small fort/gatehouse with palisade. Maybe with a "brave last stand" variant. Ruined enormous statue. What civilization raised this Ozymandian figure whose fragments lie scattered? Maybe the overlooked rooms in the plinth can say. Ruined underwater observatory. Will that leaky glass hold out? Ruined throne room. Was this monarchy destroyed by evil without—or evil within? What happens if another sits on the faded, yet surprisingly intact, seat of power?

What I would find really useful would be a sort of Lair for all sorts of things - a Dragon, a Banshee, etc.

Clarifying second thought; it's not that obscured line-of-sight is necessary; it's that the map should afford some reason why the encounter starts when the players arrive at the starting area and not before.

Greg Morrow

For me, mini-dungeons are the most useful, followed by outdoor scenes where there's a clear starting area to put players and a clear goal area (whether it's an interesting object or just a place to put opponents), with obscured line of sight between. For example, the map above has a nice starting area at the bottom, and a nice goal area in the island in the middle, but there's no concealment; whatever is in the goal area has to be hidden/invisible/camouflaged, because otherwise, the encounter would have started with the players a hundred feet off the map. Also, it seems like most of the mapmakers I follow are absolutely fascinated by winter, and it's not useful to me. I'm not saying don't do what you like, because the map above is obviously beautiful; I'm saying I rarely have winter scenes.

Greg Morrow

Itd be fun to have a multimap release of a giant castle? Like, front/exterior walls map, main structure map, courtyard and surrounding buildings map. Just kinda go all out in making one massive stronghold.... A rickety forest watch tower would be fun. High above the trees, multiple semi stable looking platforms, and a ricketty starcase up. (Im thinking like, far cry or fortnite esque)... A ‘forest’ map, but instead if trees its all the swords of giants plunged into the ground, remnants of an ancient battle and surrender. So ancient that vines now twist up the swords and create a somewhat real forest canopy above, but the ground looks like a hall of mirrors.... A dwarven colony thats underwaterish...built off a large underground cave network, there are dome like protrusions out, with strong layers if domed glass creating small aquatic pods/looking windows out into the nearby ocean where the light and color plays off the glass and into the chambers. A bioluminescent beach front/river delta with large, colorful waves.

oceanicsurvivor

I have been playing Sekiro a lot recently, and would love some maps inspired by it. Giant coy pond, east Asian villages, bamboo forests, etc. Just an idea! :)
