tbf the Evil Blue Beetle we see is 40 years in the future. The Earth has 'Venom' that makes people like Bane super swol and taller so The Reach with their advanced tech - or - even make their own version of 'Venom' could've experiment on Jamie to make him bigger to be their enforcer.

Impulse is clearly not paying attention the blue beetle in the future is clearly larger by like a couple ft and way bulkier yet he treats it like that James in the future I can give him a pass because probably he doesn’t know they have to kill jame to get the scarab back. The ambassador, scientist, and black beetle all said he has to die with black beetle mentioning finding a replacement wouldn’t be hard. James apparently wasn’t listening when he was captured scarab translated that whole conversation and rebooting and yet he’s freaking out about the scarab taking control but it clearly has no desire to follow the reach’s commands

Online speculation at the time was it had to do with Static Shock rights since DC doesn't own the Static Shock IP but it was actually scheduling and network issues. Fun Fact: DC distributes and publishes for the company (Milestone Media) that owns Static which is how they can use him in their stuff. Icon and Rocket who you've seen already in this show are Milestone characters too.
