2025-11-09 04:26:22 +0000 UTCRandom Tidbits -This movie is based on a Stephen King novel, actually one of the first he ever wrote when he was still a teenager and one of his conditions when making the movie was that they not tone down the violence, it needed the R rating -Hank and Art have the same song on the OST playing in each of their death scenes, they got as close as Ray and Pete π -This movie was filmed chronologically so you can actually see the actors get worn down over the course of the movie -This movie was directed by Francis Lawrence who did all the Hunger Games movies except the first one. Also, Ben Wang who played Hank is going to be in the next HG movie coming out next year

This is honestly one of if not my absolute favorite movies of the whole year. I love how character driven it is and I love how much kindness and love is baked into SUCH a dark premise. I feel like dystopia and apocalypse movies always show us the worse aspect of human nature but I always find it more poignant to see people still being kind and good to one another even if the world is completely broken. And the fact that itβs all men too, I love seeing male friendships/relationships be so intimate and vulnerable. The acting in this movie is stellar, everyone gave incredible performances (and the fact that they did it while walking the entirety of filming is remarkable). Cooper Hoffman as Ray and David Jonsson as Pete need to become huge stars, they both gave performances of a lifetime and the chemistry between the two of them feels like genuine cinematic magic (and theyβre also already doing another movie together).
