Gachiakuta - S1 EPISODE 13 (EARLY UNCUT ACCESS) Cour 1 DONE

Amos Backstory... Trigger Warning... wtf...

Comments

When i first watched that on Sunday I had the exact same reaction as you and all these commenters.. Just felt totally gross and felt so horrible for her.... The episode before when we didn't know much about her past I was still so pissed when Rudo beat tf outta her.... Crazy way to end this episode I hope she's ok...

As a survivor of SA, I really appreciated how they approached this episode. I am also a manga reader and as we were getting closer to the Amo backstory I was getting nervous. However they were very true to Kei Urana's vision and I applaud the way bones handled it.

I had like 4 different emotions in this chapter too and didn't have a break, and also at the end I was like "oh, she will be alone and probably something will happen with her if he doesn't go with the party, classic in that way (don't know if this happen either). This show has some "dark things" but I'm really liking it. Hope it finish well too.

I initially felt similar to you but shifted my opinion a bit on some things after thinking about last episode a bit more. I didn't love the Rudo punching her the way he did regardless of this episode so I'm hoping his anger gets flushed out more to explain why that happened better and I hope there's more to that rather than the author just deciding to use Amo as a punching bag to showcase 1 stint of anger from Rudo. Regarding her character design - I think it makes a lot of sense why her design is that way based on her past. She's essentially been locked up in a tower and used for one thing by that gross ass man we get introduced to in this episode so for her to be dressed more provocatively - it makes a lot of sense to me considering that's really all she's known sadly. Definitely agree regarding some of the camera shots they went with last episode and in the 2nd half of this episode though. I think it made me feel even more sick regarding this episode but didn't feel like it was needed to get the point across. After showing us what actually happened I feel like they should have scaled back how she's presented to the viewer 100%.

for me, this episode got me to decide to stop watching the show. there are ways to respectfully or responsibly depict or handle subject matter like that, but I felt Gachiakuta did not do that. with the way Amo has been continually sexualized in her design, poses, and through the camera's eye, it really comes off as exploitative and gross to use her for fan service before, during, and after seeing her endure that abuse. I'm also bothered by the way Amo, her character, was written in some ways and I find the "Rudo violently assaults her" scene from the last episode to be an even uglier choice now. I hope everyone who continues to watch will also continue to enjoy the show, but this anime is displaying some very gross instincts in its pursuit of shock value.

Feeling pretty confident in my "I feel bad for Amo" stance from last episode.

wow...this episode also made me sick to my stomach but i can't even be mad at the show with how well they depicted this very real situation. that moment with amo and rudo at the end was nice, but i hope she's okay

They made the episode probably more disturbing than the manga, with the sketches and the voice of the man... Damn ! For the "angel", I don't think they knew about Amo (maybe about the trafficker with the boots since he seems to travel ?) but for me it seems like their main goal was to find the highest spot possible to try to reach the sphere, when he said "Yes, this would be the closest" like the closest to the sphere. Maybe he have a limited time or possibility to use his wings, or maybe just the closest to where the sphere was at that time, since we know its always on the move. And last for Jabber, Amo was saying "Don't take them", so she was probably more talking about the boots, make more sense than the choker I think.

this episode was phenomenally done. believe it or not, the anime managed to make amo's backstory even more disturbing than the manga with one of the scenes the added. In the manga, the scene of them flying naked is not present. Instead it's a bit more subtle and just shows a panel of amo's naked leg amongst the flowers. This episode was an extremely hard watch, but an amazing adaptation. By the way, at the end when Jabber is walking away from the tower, you assumed he stole the choker. But I'd like to remind you that there is something else Amo possesses that she really would not want stolen. πŸ‘€ I'm super excited for cour two!! there's going to be some fantastic content in the remainder of the season ! We are getting a new opening and ending btw! I'm scared that whatever it is can't live up to cour one's op though lol!

Amo's backstory was sad πŸ˜”

Honestly, I was anticipating your reaction to Amo's backstory. I was debating so heavily on sharing a trigger warning a week in advance for this episode because it is undeniably disturbing. Despite this, I did find the adaptation of the manga material to be well done. Equally heartbreaking and impactful. The child-like POV with the animation changes to showcase Amo's perspective hurt a lot. I will never not tear up to this backstory as it such a real, awful issue. They did an incredible job, both in storytelling and visuals, in making us empathize with Amo by comparing what we know so far with Rudo, and how there are parallels of abuse, just in contrasting ways. It makes understanding these characters much more complex and layered.

They did amos backstory well despite the topic. The world building of gachia is πŸ”₯
