LORD OF MYSTERIES - Episodes 13 (EARLY UNCUT ACCESS) SEASON FINALE!

Comments

Moriarty was the antagonist of Sherlock Holmes on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle' novels Also, remember that Klein's a transmogrified soul, and this family he just said goodbye to is just this world' family, we still have very limited information about who he actually is and how he found himself in this world

Kanly

good point on the Azik himself possibly being a descendent of death. i didn't think of that

Cen d

careful with spoilers

Ravindu Anjana

I was really hoping there would have been a narrator to cite that quote, with which volume 1 was concluded.

bblala

Loved watching your reactions!!

Mr Fool

Melissa seemed to disregard the clowns as she looked at the performance. Benson tried to lift his sister’s spirits by cheering, but he didn’t succeed. He slowly turned sullen too. Klein puckered his lips tightly as he watched this scene from afar. He wanted to approach them, but he didn’t dare to. Suddenly, he touched the wallet in his jacket and had an idea. Benson and Melissa continued walking forward, silently watching the various performances. Some time later, they saw a clown running towards them. His face was painted in colorful pastels. At first, he threw a tennis ball into the air, and, while the attention of the surrounding people was drawn to the air, he conjured a flower out of thin air. It was a Seville Chrysanthemum. The clown brought the flower before Melissa and Benson. The flower was golden in color and symbolized happiness. Melissa and Benson looked at the clown in a daze. All they saw was a wide smile plastered over the pastel face. It was a happy smile, an exaggerated smile, a ridiculous smile.

Its crazy that you almost missed out on LOTM.. lol i remember i trashed the trash anime in discord to lobby for this show.. lol definitely made a couple of people upset, my bad.. but i was sure it's gonna be awesome and gladly it didn't disappoint.. As a novel reader I'm definitely impressed by how well the show is made but the sound design i find far exceeds the stunning visuals and animation.. i don't know it just took the show to another realm One nitpick i have with the show is they mainly omitted the economics side of the story.. throughout the story it is a persistent concept and struggle of klien and other characters with money.. i get why they did that, packing all of volume 1 into 6.5 hours show would automatically leave you with more to desire but i don't think the way the did it took a whole lot from enjoying the show.. Rip Dunn, old Neil and Kenny 😞

deranged but not really

I'm heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere. Also she closed that notebook like a holstering a gun after the first discussion lol

Bocchin

Klein can't really go back to his family because he already died twice. Coming back would really looks suspicious, plus it another way to protect his family

Silent Night

Thank you for the reaction! I've read the novel, and at times, I was doubtful of the changes made for the adaptation. But seeing what many reactors, and especially you, got out of it... the sense of wonder, puzzlements, the feeling of solving a mystery, the emotional highs, it all feels like it matches the book. It was just adapted to a new medium, and did it wonderfully. You have an amazing eye for visual details! I didn't realize Ince steps on and breaks a shard of a mirror reflecting the symbol of the Evernight church. That's the kind of visual detail a donghua can use that wouldn't have worked on the novel.

JJ

You are not ready for next season 🧐

rmplays

“It was a happy smile a exaggerated smile an ridiculous smile”😃

rmplays

yeah im crying again

Douglas Ferreira

The author voicing the 0-08 quill is a dope easter egg, the 3 bows Klein gave at Dunn’s grave is a Chinese tradition as a way to honor the deceased, being Klein aka Sherlock is actually Chinese. Amazing reactions to this insane series, can’t wait for the special episode next year!

YB_RickLee

as someone who put the novel as the top novel i have ever read, i was skeptical even before the adaptation news came out. the story, the background and the action look really hard to translate to animation especially when i look form the anime studios perspective. After the first three eps even with a great action animation ,with how they skip lots of contents i was still unsure. thankfully they manage to pull it off. now i cant wait for the next ten years.

reddnik

it was, in the novel it’s more clearly stated as being his quote since it was read from one of the pages klein received of his diary in a tarot club meeting

ViltrumitePrime

I think that was roselle that was talking about the Industrial Revolution being a hotbed for evil gods. Since, it shows a page of emperor roselle’s diary.

GrimPanther54

The quantity of Beyonder characteristics is fixed. Whether they are transformed into potions, turned into mystical items, or become corrupted, there are methods to purify them and restore them to their original state. The higher the sequence, the fewer such characteristics exist. Therefore, if a particular sequence already has a deity, it is almost impossible to kill and refine them into a potion

Fireball_clh

i recommend for the donghua watcher to at least read the chapter for this episode. it will give a more complete perspective about the final story of the first book. the last few scene in my opinion are better describe in the novel.

reddnik

I've been holding off from watching everyone's reactions online just to wait until you released the final episode. now i can finally enjoy it

Fireball_clh

I'm so happy you plan to read the 1st volume! But in my opinion, you should do that after special episode in 2026, because it all takes place also in volume 1. Plus if you do that then, then you will have refreshed concent for season 2 in 2027!

Szymon

Not all characteristic can become an artifact just like that, most needs to be crafted by a craftsman since characteristic itself is a material. And most characteristic instead of being use for crafting are use in potion for beyonder to advance in sequence.

Lance Ma

Really really really thank you. It is so satisfying to have a wholesome closure to a series not only alone but to relive it with someone else, especially if this person values the experience. It was a great journey and It gives me a feeling of completion. Also your reaction was again absolute engaging and immersive. Maybe you consider reacting to the full version of both ending songs "Dark Dream" by Curley Gao and "The Erased" by Pu Yixing with subtitles? After the series they make so much more sense.

Silvanus2004

The show's English translation has been very sub part all the way through the series, because every episodes that has been really bad translation. If I never read the novel it wouldn't bother me as much because I don't know any better, but my god there were many moments that really irate me.

Lance Ma

In volume 1, Captain Smith was my favorite character but from here on out, it is Klein He will never be the same after this... the prologue 😭 He's all alone now and its even more gut-wrenching in the novel because of ALL the slice of life moments with the divination club, Nighthawks, and spending time with Benson and Melissa. Zhou Mingrui Klein Moretti Mr. Fool Sherlock Moriarty He has so many different personas now and with how many people he has to "act" as... who is Klein anymore

King

God I love your reaction to the donghua as a reader who loved the novel . It's amazing to see it through new eyes. just wanted to add few clarifications. it wasn't a threat saying The church would execute you if you didn't report archbishop. the translation was bit bad there but what it meant there was if you saw any hint of archbishop run to your HQ and report it ASAP or you will end up dead because the archbishop was that dangerous, it was a danger warning not a threat. Chanis gate is what nighthawks call where they keep sealed artefacts in every city, so the mention of Ince zangwill inviting the quill out of chanis gate is not about the chanis gate in tingen but the HQ one. the quill can't see what happens above grey fog and that's the reason why zangwill couldn't accurately predict and control Klein. Ince is actually sequence 4 now not 5 . he wanted ashes(beyonder characteristic) to move to sequence 4 from 5. Klein didn't divine about the ashes . he just guessed from the last memory before his death.

Ravindu Anjana

Insanely beautiful...I kept telling myself no way... he can't be dead...He's THE lord of Mystie's.

Soulreaver Dread

Since I haven't seen anyone mention it here, a little fun fact about 0-08 in this episode. The inner voice of the artifact is actually voiced by Cuttlefish, the author of LotM. It's a really cool nod to include him as the one writing fate.

Saint Benny

I suggest you read chapter 210 of the novel. It explains more of Ince Zangwills plan. It's also just a really cool chapter that can stand alone.

Sammy

8:50 we hear the Roselle lines because Klein had read those lines in his diary and that was the first place his mind went to, same reason we had that scene of Roselle himself talking and saying he's the protagonist of the era

Chaos

Intro: The phrase about the industrial revolution, was Klein thinking about the phrase he saw in one of the diary notes. It was a small note the Emperor made in a long rant. About Artifact 0-08, we learn more about it and more later. Probably end of season 2 and season 3 things, as it links to more lore. But yes, you are really on it. Also, Quills could have fancy tips like a pen to lol Episode: Cuddlefish (the Author) voiced 0-08, and that is an epic move. apparently China didn't like his voice acting, but I loved it. The pathways have old and new names. The quill is using the old names. T^T "It was a happy smile, an exaggerated smile, a ridiculous smile" *CRYING MY EYE OUT EVERYTIME and I've seen it 6 times now....* End Credits: doesn't help the ending song is sung by Klein's voice actor.... Also you should see the English subs of the song sung, it doesn't help the tears. "The Erased" by Pu Yixing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6HvtrlLSIQ I love Klein's names he uses, there are hilarious at least we have special episodes next year T^T ...

Lyndai

I was gonna stop commenting but I needed to make a Dunn appreciation post. This man carries all his comrades into battle with him even if it cripples his own power progression and sanity, still manages to be the dependable leader in the midst of all the chaos, and even while being mentally and physically ill and suffering direct manipulations from 0-08 to make the wrong decision, still managed to stop the True Creator from descending.

Sir Nil

0-08 having an actual personality adds so much to Dunn's actions, because if 0-08 has its personality from when it may have been a beyonder, then there's a chance the characteristics Dunn's consumed have echoes or pieces of the original people left. The people he sees in his dreams aren't just delusions made by his mind but an actual remnant left by his comrades.

Sir Nil

Get ready, it only gets worse from here(tears). idk if you're a book kinda person, but I HIGHLY recommend the lotm WN. Even if you want to wait on the anime for everything, I'd still recommend reading v1 at least. There's so much missed detail, lore, tarot meetings, and character interactions that the donghua simply couldn't include. Be warned that if you do decide to, the special episode for next year is covered in the latter half of V1. And I don't know if you noticed, but Ince Zangwill SWITCHED PATHWAYS. That is something we've been told time and time again that you can't do for fear of losing control, but he's somehow done it. Also I might be right I might not, but ince's name is a play on words with ink and quill(Ince = ink, Zangwill = quill?) pretty funny if true. RIP captain Dunn the GOAT.

Jam

Wasn't he influenced by the quill artifact? The pen wrote it so he used it or so I thought.

John Paul

There's another layer to Klein changing his name, in order for 0-08 to manipulate someone, you have to WRITE that person's name! 'Dunn Smith made the wrong call and took out Saint Selena's ashes.' Completely disappearing not only protects his family but also gives him the advantage that Ince won't see him coming.

Sir Nil

There were numerous ways Dunn could've dealt with the situation before escalating to Saint Selena's ashes, he didn't even consider pacifying artifacts like the Peaceful Hair Strands that were used on Old Neil, instead directly going for combat weapons, and as other commenters pointed out stalled for time inside the Chanis Gate until reinforcements arrived. Even still, Dunn the GOAT still managed to clutch a fight against a god!

Sir Nil

Klein isn't being subtle when he named his new identity after the famous detective Sherlock Holmes who in the original books died together with his enemy Moriarty, but somehow came back to life.

Sir Nil

I left this comment on another amazing reactors video for this episode and figured I’d leave it here as well with a few changes. Beware, it’s LONG, like essay long lol. Stench Zangwill finally makes his grand entrance with his reality-breaking pen. The prologue is over and the story of LotM starts now. I don’t care about what anyone else says, this adaptation is a solid 10/10 for me and absolutely does the novel so much justice and respect. I cried for 15 minutes straight after I first watched this episode- I knew it was all coming but the way the animation team and the director chose to show the end of volume 1 still blew me away and effectively ripped out my heart. Klein’s VA is absolutely amazing and his disguised clown voice makes me cry every time I hear it (it sounds like his voice cracks a bit too which furthers the hurt). Even though I’ve seen this episode many times now by watching others react to it, I still managed to cry a lot. LotM is, as you said, so beautiful and so, so sad. Never has a piece of fiction ever affected me as much as this novel and I will glaze it for the rest of my natural life. Season 2 is going to be insane, even more so than this season was- I can’t wait for you to meet Sherlock Moriarty and experience his story in Backlund. Here’s some additional spoiler-free facts and tidbits for volume 1: - the beginning of the episode showed Dunn’s office where the telegram sent by the Evernight HQ arrived too late- it read something along the lines of ‘Be careful of 0-08 and Ince Zangwill’. The church and other official Beyonder factions did send reinforcements, but 0-08 affected the weather and other factors which caused them to be late (also hence why the telegram wasn’t able to be received on time- telegrams perform extremely poorly in bad weather, especially thunder storms). By the time the reinforcements arrived, Zangwill made off with the ashes and only Leonard was found alive - they didn’t show it in the donghua, but in the novel Leonard (who had passed out and was unable to witness the end of the battle) woke up and saw Dunn and Klein’s bodies and promptly broke down crying and screaming. Leonard lost two important people to him and blamed himself for being so weak and arrogant for only a Sequence 8. His request to join the Red Gloves shows that he is now on a path of revenge. To join the Red Gloves however, one has to at least be Sequence 7 and be willing to dedicate themselves entirely to the Evernight Church - Ince Zangwill’s entire plan to attain Saint Selena’s ashes did not entirely cooperate with Lanevus’ original goal in reviving the True Creator- the Aurora Order’s plan was to let the festering pain and resentment from the lower classes in Tingen support the True Creator’s vessel inside Megose for nine months in order to grow stronger. They couldn’t do that in Backlund as there were more Beyonders and organizations that would directly interfere with the Aurora Order, so they chose Tingen instead as it was more quiet and had a smaller Beyonder population. Ince Zangwill interfered with the Aurora Order’s plan by making Megose visit the Blackthorn Security Company suddenly, where the vessel inside her would be stimulated by the effects of Saint Selena’s ashes, thus forcing the vessel to try to make a full descent in order to protect itself. Ince Zangwill did not care if the descent of the True Creator actually happened, he just wanted the ashes no matter the cost and was willing to do anything necessary to achieve his goal (such as encouraging the descent of an evil god upon a city filled with tens of thousands of innocent people) - Dunn, if not manipulated by 0-08, would have lead Megose while she has still stable down into the Chanis Gate, which would have effectively sealed her and allowed them to contain the True Creator’s vessel. However, Zangwill used 0-08 to interfere with Dunn’s mental state thus causing Dunn to instead take out Saint Selena’s ashes, cementing the True Creator attempting to descend earlier than planned just so Zangwill could use the ashes to swap pathways from the Corpse Collect path to the Sleepless path, something that we were previously told was so risky it had an almost guaranteed effect of making you lose control. This in turn brings up the question as to why didn’t Zangwill lose control? Why did he want to switch paths, and how did he know he would be successful enough to risk it? Is he being supported by an outside force, another secret organization? The mysteries continue - Klein Moretti did die as 0-08 had written, but Zhou Mingrui was never meant to be part of the story. The grey fog is a wild card that Zangwill had no knowledge of despite him controlling the narrative completely. The mysteries of the grey fog and Klein’s transmigration grow more sinister, as the coincidences that lead to him choosing the Seer pathway have nothing to do with Zangwill at all and a more secretive force most likely is also pulling the strings behind Zhou Mingrui fatefully becoming Klein Moretti - Klein died in the first episode and yet came back to life because of Zhou Mingrui’s transmigration. It was always hinted that Klein had the ability to resurrect if he were to die. One thing Klein makes note of after he resurrects is that the regeneration was slower than when he first woke up after becoming Klein and his gunshot wound healed almost completely in only a few seconds, maybe a few minutes (this time, it took him over day or so). He hypothesizes that his resurrection was unusual and not a fail safe plan to always rely on, as his resurrections were most likely limited, with Klein feeling like he only has two more chances at most. - the Moretti siblings have lost not only their father and mother, but their brother Klein. The tragedy that this poor family has had to go through is absolutely unimaginable, and Klein is incredibly aware of that. Even though he is not really Klein, he still loved Melissa and Benson as if they were his own family, so him choosing to leave behind literally everything in order to protect them is absolutely gut wrenching. It’s also so incredibly brave and amazing of him to have the mental fortitude and strength to carry through with not cracking after essentially saying farewell to HIS family and his friends at the Nighthawks, the only comfort he had to combat the loneliness he felt from missing his real home. Klein has basically lost both of his families at this point, and his only hope lies in being able to return to his real home - you are going to get so many people quoting the last few paragraphs of volume 1 in your comments so be ready lol- I’ve seen it for every reaction to this episode - the ending song played this episode is actually sung by Klein’s VA (the absolute GOAT- not only is his voice incredibly pleasant to listen to, his singing is amazing and fits Klein so well). There is a lyric video up on YouTube that translates the entire song and the lyrics are absolutely heart wrenching as they not only encompass his journey in volume 1 but also his character and story as a whole- please check it out and react to it because it’s so, so good. I need more people to cry with over the lyrics lmao. The song is called ‘Erased’ (in Mandarin it’s ‘Don’t Forget Me’ or ‘Forget-Me-Not’) - if you listen to the main ending song again, ‘Dark Dream’, the lyrics make even more sense and are, once again, more heart breaking with added context, especially 0-08 and the fates of Beyonders in this world - Cuttlefish, the author of LotM, is the one voicing 0-08. That’s some next level trolling on his part as he’s the one who wrote the story, so he absolutely suits 0-08 lmao. I hope Cuttlefish continues to be directly involved with the adaptation, and I’m actually curious to see if he’ll voice other cheeky characters as well - the fact that they cooked so hard with Zangwill’s theme alone means that the themes of future villains who are far more terrifying than Zangwill will be godly. I’m terrified and excited Klein Moretti/Zhou Mingrui is one of the best written characters I have seen in fiction in a very, very long time. He is so doomed by the narrative it’s not even funny. This world is so terrifying and so dangerous that not even the MC is safe, and everyone is a walking death flag. Volume 1 really is only the beginning and serves to set up what we can expect from this world; no one is safe, Klein must become stronger but is absolutely alone now, Tingen was only a small city in comparison to Backlund which is the capital of Loen (which in of itself is only a small part of his entire world, meaning the scale is going to keep increasing), shit is about to get wild as the stakes are also going to rise because stopping the actual DESCENT of an evil god that will effectively destroy an entire city is only the prologue and there’s still volumes 2-8 to get through, and we’re going to have plot points and holes revisited in later seasons (which means that we won’t know the full story of LotM until the end). Amazing reaction. I cried right alongside you lol. You breaking down crying at the end when Klein smiled was literally me when I first watched this episode (truly such is the power of LotM). The peak has only just started, it gets better from here on out, believe it or not. To quote yet again “We are guardians, but also a bunch of miserable wretches constantly fighting battles and madness.” P.S. can’t wait to see you next year for the special episode! It’s rumoured to be over an hour long, so basically a movie lol. It’s a side story that was left out of season 1 so the adaptation could focus more on the main story in Tingen. Azik will be in it, so that’s a bonus because he is the GOAT (also you will most likely learn more about the Sun and his story, which is one of the best parts of LotM imo- my giant little dark souls protagonist who deserves all the love). You will also get introduced to another one of my all time favourite characters in LotM and I’m so excited to see how you feel about her

Shouto

Ince Zangwill advanced from sequence 5 to sequence 4 while also changing pathway from Death/Corpse collector to - Evernight/Sleepless pathway.

Pramit Sharma

There is just so much symbolism just from the animation itself. 1. Ince Zangwill slowly walking towards the scene with all the lights extinguishing and Evernight symbol shattering (like Flexie noticed) 2. When Klein threw the 2nd sun charm, it flew past Dun's pipe to light it up, for the first and last time. We always only see Dun use it to smell and never smoking it. 3. When Leonard delivered his the news to his family, the tickets were separated from 3 to 2 & 1 :( 4. The raindrop on Daly's face. 5. The wooden puppet details when the sealed-artifact was talking 6. The prayers that Klein did at Dun's grave was more traditionally a Chinese or similar Asian culture prayers. Palms facing each other, held near the chest and bowing 3 times. There's just so much good details that doesnt need to be explicitly mentioned but we just know by watching and inferring. It makes a novel reader like myself so so happy Also Flexie, Ince Zangwill is now Sequence 4 Nightwatch from the Evernight Pathway (aka the sleepless pathway). He was previously from Sequence 5 Gravekeeper from the corpse collector pathway. This is a slight hint that beyonders can change pathways but the details should be revealed next time. Previously when Klein drank the Seer potion, Neil told him that he cant change his decision after drinking but this contradicts it!

Tenghein C

Yeah that’s a problem I think 😂

Jessica McCann

Crying is good for yooooou lol

Jessica McCann

Ince Zangwill took Saint Selena's ashes to progress from seq 5 to seq4 demigod

Dexter Chia

Man I can't watch this episode with people who cries, I'll end up joining them...

Gray Hellsing

Oh, if you plan on reading the novel, you could bring videos of your opinion while reading it, maybe... every 50 chapters because the first volume has 213, I mean, it would be interesting to see your opinion as you read the novel, I think it would be very good content to see

Shiki

"We are guardians, but also a bunch of miserable wretches that are constantly fighting against dangers and madness."

reddnik

This entire season was CINEMA!!! I CAN'T believe I wasn't planning on watching this show. I'm SO SO glad I decided to give it a try, and see what it's about. I had NO idea what I was diving into and I have zero regrets. I'll miss these weekly episodes but I plan on reacting to bonus content so please leave your suggestions below on what you'd like to see me react to LOTM themed!

Jessica McCann

YAY - I was right then, thank you (but then also wtf lol)

Jessica McCann

“The one who started the industrial revolution “ is Emperor Roselle

Harry Mann

The person talking about ushering the age of machinery is roselle. It's not clear because they chose this moment to talk about the diary but its his voice actor
