Also daly don't consume them . daly and Dunn just learned about it together and church told both of them if they want they can choose to consume them or else church will handle them as usual. since the extra characteristics affect potion digestion and increase the risk of losing control most of the nighthawks doesn't choose to consume them dan only does it so he can feel the marks left by his dead comrades

2025-09-10 06:28:30 +0000 UTCEven though I’ve read the novel, this episode still had me so stressed lol. Excellent direction by the animation team, the absolute mad lads. I can’t get over how good the VAs are for this show- Megose stole the show for me this ep. I feel so bad for Megose as she never stood a chance; she was manipulated by Lanevus form the beginning, and Lanevus had a Sequence 7 Psychiatrist (Hood Eugen) on his side so Megose was hypnotized as well. Plus having a literal evil god be forced into her womb where she was subjected to crazy ravings by the True Creator for months, it’s no wonder Megose’s mind broke. I love how throughout the donghua, you can see how this world is gradually wearing on Klein. You’re right in that before he maintained a rather detached point of view towards the world and people around him but it really was in ep 9 that we start to see the strain of all the tragedy and trauma that Klein has faced affect him deeply. His lack of lampooning (aka making fun of himself or Leonard lol) the last few eps is also jarring- my boy is NOT having a good time. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the finale- I have yet to watch it but I remember the ending being my favourite part of volume 1 and I can’t wait to see how they adapt it. Have tissues ready cause it’s going to be intense lol. Also quick side note but the donghua did skip over some important tidbits on why Dunn chooses to consume the Beyonder characteristics of his fallen comrades- essentially, when Dunn consumes the characteristic he is able to see the original owners of the characteristic in his dreams, hence they’re always with him. And if you remember, it’s been commented already that Sequence 7 Nightmares struggle differentiating dreams from reality so Dunn is constantly seeing the people he cherished, dead and alive, which is devastating to think about. It really puts into perspective the state of Dunn’s mentality and emotional burden, as well as how strong he is as a character to not only continue acting as the Captain of the Nighthawks but also in how terribly kind he is. Anyone lesser would have immediately lost control, but Dunn’s mental fortitude keeps him tethered in sanity

Potions are made up of 2 components, main ingredients and supplementary ingredients... main ingredients give you the beyonder power while supplementary help prevent you from losing control. Law of beyonder characteristics indestructiblility and conservation is where beyonder characteristics can never increase nor decrease. There can only be a set number of them, so giving birth or death does not increase or decrease that number When a beyonder dies, their power is transferred. So remember the clowns brain, or that glowing green orb, old neils eyes... their beyonder power is transferred to a part of their body and became a BEYONDER CHARACTERISTIC. These can be substituted for main ingredients of a potion. So if Klein died, his beyonder characteristic could be substituted to make a new sequence 8 clown potion. They also can fuse with an object which becomes a sealed artifact. So if you remember last episode, the mirror... that was a dead sequence 7 spirit mediums beyonder characteristic transferred into an ordinary mirror. The reason the church wants these characteristics is to turn them into new ingredients to make new potions. However, Captain decides to eat them as a way to remember his teammates. When Dunn ate Kenley, its like he drank a new sequence potion which increases his power... but makes him incredibly unstable. He could never advance because he keeps consuming their characteristics. This is why the acting method is never revealed... if too many people advance too quickly, they will run out of ingredients, no one can advance until someone dies... which means people will start killing beyonders in order to obtain their characteristics... think of everyone as a walking ingredient. To prevent that, they hide the acting method. Dunn Smith only eats them to always keep them in his heart, and he can see them in his dreams, he wants to keep fighting and protecting Tingen city with everyone. However he could not eat Old Neil as he is a different pathway The churches only want to protect and fight against evil beyonders

I felt sorry as well for Megose as she was just a innocent dreaming young woman wo was manipulated, abused, and corrupted to be a sacrifice for the true creator. Also as I couldnt wait (shame on me) I watched 13 in advance and can spoilerless say, a worthy finale for this season, still got chills. Really looking forward to your reaction next week. 2025-09-08 19:25:04 +0000 UTCSo, I don't think these are spoilers, but they will help your understanding. Lanevus is a seq8 swindler from Marauder Pathway. They are easy to like, easier to trust type of person, seq8 ability. Also, there was Hood Eugen seq7 from the spectator path. He actually brainwashed Megose for the most part. In the ritual, he made her see True Creator as Lanevus and made them have sex kinda => True Creator spawn as Megose's baby. About the beyonder characteristic stuff, these were explained in vol 1 of the novel. Beyonder characteristics can be in the form of a beyonder creature, sealed artifact or beyonder. Their number cant decrease/increase they cant be destroyed. So when a beyonder dies crazy or not, they leave behind their beyonder characteristics. The clown in ep3 left behind a seq7 Seer Pathway characteristic, so it can be used as a main ingredient for a seq7 Seer potion. Beyonder char = potion main ingredients. Also you can consume characteristics from your same pathway, but for example when Dunn consumed Kenleys seq9 Sleepless characteristics it was like drinking another seq9 potion so there should be more acting for seq9 sleeples for the digestion. Thats why it greatly affect potion digestion. Dunn choose to consume the characteristics of his comrades because as a beyonder from the Sleepless pathway, he can actually see, communicate etc with his fallen comrades in his dreams, they are with him forever. Actually a sad fact; in his dreams he talks etc with his formes colleagues and one of them was Rozanne(the clerk)s father. He tells Dunn to discipline her more and thats why when Klein first joined, Rozanne told Klein that she feels that Dunn is like becoming more and more like her father was. Also thats why Dunn is stronger than a normal seq7. His seq9, 8 and 7 abilities are all enchaced to the level of a seq6. So hes like a seq6 without the seq6 powers.

Therefore, the goal of the feather was to influence fate to make sure True creator descended immediately. For beyonder characteristics: think of it like a fully made potion. If you consume the characteristics of a higher sequence in your pathway, you can advance in sequences. Just think of it like a substitute for potion. The reason not many know about it is because every beyonder will start killing each other to get the characteristics rather than make a potion to advance the sequences,
