LORD OF MYSTERIES - Episodes 8 (EARLY UNCUT ACCESS)

Comments

Check who the author of the weekly lore text is this time. Should be a familiar name! ;)

Yerdiss

When creating the charms, Klein didn't pray to the sun god, but the blood of the sun god. Basically, he used a ritual to drain power from the Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem, weakening it. A Nighthawk of the Evernight Goddess would not usually want to pray to the sun god, so Klein found a way to drain the power from the item, instead.

JJ

basically all the mementos of those who died among Old Neil's old colleagues, nothing too deep, they just made it slightly too dramatic

Dexter Chia

Mr. Azik’s little haunting segment was hilarious and cute lol- this High Sequence Beyonder (whose Sequence number is still unknown which obviously means it’s pretty high lol) is really out here, using his ancient powers and spirits to make people act like actual buffoons upon being possessed, like barking like a dog or dancing like a ballerina (the one guy ‘attacking’ Leonard was trying to kiss him which I find funny af). 10/10 never change Mr. Azik. I feel like this episode did really well covering and showing how terrifying losing control is for Beyonders. It’s extremely easy for Beyonders, especially low sequence Beyonders to lose control at literally the drop of a hat. Old Neil’s Mysticism class for this episode goes into more detail on how Beyonders can lose control and why, but basically the novel at this point goes on to show that all Beyonders are extremely likely to die in two ways: being killed by other Beyonders or in supernatural incidents with monsters and other spiritual beings, or being killed after losing control and going berserk. It’s really rare for a Beyonder to die of natural causes, like old age. Old Neil is a tragic character when you realize exactly how much he has lost by becoming a Beyonder and being around fellow Beyonders- he’s literally outlived all his loved ones and friends, as shown when Klein was looking at all the keepsakes Old Neil collected from his deceased family and companions. I also feel like this whole event with Havre and Old Neil was a massive wake up call to Klein regarding the true risks and dangers of even simply being a Beyonder, and what it could mean for him in the long run. Love your theories! I will say that for the donghua, they combined separate events from the novels into this episode to make the story flow smoothly while effectively covering multiple plots in one go. I thought they did a really good job with episode 8 and the show is seriously getting better and better with each new episode, and yet apparently episode 8 isn’t as highly anticipated or liked as much as the upcoming episodes (especially 9, 11, and 13 I believe) by the director and author of the series- this is both terrifying and astonishing to think about, especially if you’re a donghua-only. As a novel reader (started reading the novel after episode 2 dropped and I’m already on volume 4- if you haven’t been able to tell already but I’m absolutely locked in with this series lol) I’m still terrified and also extremely excited because the next 5 episodes are guaranteed at this point to really show off the true magic and soul of LoTM, as well as why it’s so dearly loved and regarded so highly by so many different people. Wonderful reaction as always, fair warning that in Old Neil’s Mysticism class for episode 8 there is a rather significant spoiler discussed that the donghua has yet to reveal, so if you end up watching it I would recommend using Merlin Sparrow’s translation as they mark the timestamp for the spoiler and where to skip ahead.

I think part of your confusion regarding orders is due to bad translations. Novel used the word secret organisations which was more clear than subtitles imo. So both aurora order and secret order was part of secret organisations category which makes easier to understand than saying Aurora Order and The Secret Order is part of Secret Orders category. Also Acting method is not a well known thing . If you remember HangedMan had no idea about the method when Fool tell them about it. After that He and Justice Pay Fool back using roselle's diaries which show how important this method is for beyonders.Usual beyonders just control Beyonder powers they don't digest them which increase the risk of going out of control.

Ravindu Anjana

These beyonders that lose control always seem to go after Klein directly, I wonder how Klein is linked to these incidents...

YellowboyRickLee

btw, 5 more seasons and 3 movies were announced

I feel like up to a point it would almost definitely be easier to lose control as you get stronger. Like, if a seer becomes better at 'seeing' things by going up sequences, they'd almost certainly be exposed to more malicious and dangerous entities. Furthermore, some unlucky people lose control simply by drinking their first potion... so a sequence 2 potion that raises someone to the level of essentially a god probably requires a great deal of preparedness and caution, lest some godly sequence 3 loses control and accidently wipes out a country or two. Though this might change once you master a pathway who knows.

You said that you are looking forward to reading the comments on the videos, but I don't know how good of an idea that is. Luckily there weren't problems yet, but some people tend to just mention words or names that could be big giveaways by themselves. Like, really big, and from what I see on the subreddit, there are loads of people doing that, not understanding that these things tend to stick with people, even so when the show is called Lord of the Mysteries, and everyone knows they should pay attention as much as they can. So I think the best course of action would be if someone looked through them before letting you read it. It is annoying, but some people just want to show off. Just an advice tho :) And thank you for the reaction, I loved it!

Great reactionnn 💜💜 I’ve seen other people describe losing control but this one really helped me understand. They said once you drink a potion (so basically every beyonder ahah) Think of it like a door in your body and you’re trying to stop it from opening. If the door opens, you’ve lost control and turn into a monster/die. You live in a world where everything is trying to open your door, one mistake like looking at gods, being in contact with weird beyonder abilities, or even low/extreme emotions you have can forced the door open, everyday, every night you’re holding this door closed but just one mistake and you done. My question is when you get stronger do you stop worrying about losing control or is this a forever thing. Cause if that’s a forever thing I’m not sure I want it

lindap

Before Havre lost control and while Klein was making the Sun charms, you could see footprints leading into the sea, they started out human. Havre might've sensed he was losing control and was doing his damndest to get away from the crowded docks.

Sir Nil

The Evernight Goodess is also The Mother of Concealment? oh... Also that evil baby!!!

Gray Hellsing

In regards to mystery pryer, I think the nighthawks have sequence 9 and 7 but not 8? correct me if I'm wrong

Jam

This is just a clarification regarding Flexies confusion regardig old Neils pathway. I write this separately so it can be read without possible spoilers in my other text. The Evernight Church has one main pathway which is their offical pathway: Sleepless For this Pathway they have the names and receipes for each potion. Beyond that they have the names and receipes for 3 other pathways even if not complete and for seer only the starting potion. Even if the names and receipes of the potions are well guarded secrets or lost in time, someone always can find these information if they are lucky. For example Klein during his sunbath. These informations are extremly valuable and even dangerous. Bad guys dont like their secrets known, good guys are at least wary. But it would be strange if a large organization like the Evernight Church wouldn't have gathered some information in their long history.

Silvanus2004

also I think now they've confirmed they'll be making 6 seasons and 3 movies, with season 2 coming out in 2027 wth 30 episodes I'm pretty sure, which is lowkey insane.

Jam

I dont think these are spoilers, but if so feel free to correct me!!! Regarding losing control: The Novel goes into a bit more detail. The potions contain mystic ingredients, for example the seer potion contains "Lavos Squid's Crystallized Blood" which have an influence on a normal mortal. Also Klein hears whisperings and murmuring after drinking the potion, which attacks his sanity. Hornacis Flegrea anyone? Dunn's remark to not listen to strange thinks you shouldn't listen to and to not look at things you should look at is also a warning regarding this. As Dunn saw the True creator through a third persons dream/mind, that likely had also an impact on his sanity, but Dunn is a big boy, so he just was visibly shaken. The Control over the powers is mainly kept through someones sanity and disclipline, so if someone experiences an emotional or spiritual shock, the person can "lose control". The acting method is a unkown concept so a normal beyonder has a lot more try and error to digest a potion which results in longer time to digest it and if someone acts not the way the potion needs to be act to, can make it harder to control the potion gained powers. So loosing control without the acting method is much more likely. That was the reason Alger Wilson thanks the fool for this livesaving grace in explaining the acting method and also the surprised reaction to Kleins remark that the potion can be digested in under a year, which is way faster than normal. Some beyonders never digest their potion fully, which also results in frustration which weakens the control.

Silvanus2004

an organisation having mastery over a pathway(the moses ascetic order with mystery pryer) doesn't mean nobody else has some of it's sequences. I think the Nighthawks only have sequence 9 of mystery pryer, and old Neil is a sequence 9.

Jam

Thank you!! Yeah I'm planning to watch the next 4 Chibi videos, plus all the Neil classes this week :)

Jessica McCann

you will learn it through the Mysticism Class, but the symbol that's shown again and again this episode is the symbol of the Lord of Storms. Havre is part of the Mandated Punishers and we are at the docks which is for the most part the area of the Church of the Lord of Storms because they control the Sailor Pathway and therefore it makes sense that most sailors are members of that church.

I'm guessing you never sleep. 😁
