2025-08-29 06:30:06 +0000 UTCI noticed there wasn't much in the comments about why Clown makes sense as the next sequence after Sage, so I'll add a quick note about that. First consider what was written in the Emperor's diary about Acting, Digesting, and the potion's name being key. It's like dressing for the job you want, not the job you have. Fake it till you make it, walk the walk, talk the talk. When we treat each pathway as a route to divinity, each new sequence deepens the immersion into the divine role that pathway leads towards. So it must be consistent at its core. So what part of a clown is a continuation of a seer? Think of the clown not as a circus fool, but as a royal jester. There is one distinct trait that made a jester different from other members of court: a jester can speak the truth to the ruler. Any truth. Where the sage gives insights that people want to hear. The jester is allowed to give insights that people rather not hear. Food for thought.

2025-08-10 10:32:45 +0000 UTCTo demystify the word epoch: it's pronounced "Ee-pok" (UK) or "Eh-pok" (US). Many in the US also use the UK variant, so the distinction isn't really that strict anymore. It's true that the variant "Eh-pic" is sometimes used, though often just regionally. That variant is correct only in so far as that most people won't care if you pronounce it like that. As for the meaning, it's just a measure of time, like era and eon. They are used in geology as a period of a certain length, but the use in literature is slightly different. Era is commonly used for "A historical period that lasted quite long". Epoch refers to "a time when things were drastically different". So when there is a historical and lasting change, it may be said it's the start of a new epoch. So back to the series, it's a hint about the history of the world. Apparently, there have been five world-changing events, one at the start of each epoch. The first would be the creation myth. It's a nice puzzle trying to figure out what event heralded the end of the fourth and beginning of the fifth epoch.

2025-08-08 10:55:34 +0000 UTCNo - I wasn't thinking that and I have much dirtier mind then you do ;) Usually it seems. I have to say that while this "Anime" is intriguing, my anime senses tell me that this is incredibly compressed and rushed adaptation. To the detriment of said adaptation. I'm looking at buying this web novel, but it's almost 1500 chapters, which even at 50% off is about 150$ if I calculate this correctly. For the first book - which contains many volumes. With use of an app, some free chapters and some "free" items (that require you watch ads - a lot of them), it's like 15$ less. Of course if you followed it from the beginning there were only so many chapters weekly so you could have read it and bought it for almost free. I will probably start reading after episode 6 airs and you react to it. Because it makes me feel like I'm missing so much through this adaptation.

2025-07-24 19:07:31 +0000 UTCOh! And when i pull The Fool i sometimes read it as a representation of a person that is naive either in a innocent way or in a bold way. Like an excited or rebellious child going out for an adventure not knowing all the dangers that an adventure can bring if you are not prepared.

2025-07-16 22:33:36 +0000 UTCAs a tarot reader myself i liked your explaining of The Justice card and The Hanged Man card! This might have nothing to do with the series, but it might be interesting for some. When i pull The Hanged Man card i sometimes read it as a time of seeing things from a different perspective. The hanged man upright sees the world up side down which can indicate that you should look at a situation from a different perspective to get clarity of your surroundings. If the path or situation isnt clear, the hanged man can give you insight that you have to shift your perception to get clarity.

2025-07-16 22:28:42 +0000 UTCNotes for you. MC isn't a part of the Evernight Church really. His mother ['manga' only content] was a worshiper of the goddess. The organization he is now part of, Nighthawk, is a government program with units in every district of the kingdom. They are like a special unit of the police. And are in alliance with the Evernight church, but not a part of the church, just working alongside them. Beyonder potions have pathways; there are 22 pathways: Corpse Collector, Marauder, Sleepless, Seer, etc.. And there is a sequence to each potion of each pathway. Each person has the potential to move down the sequence number of the pathway they chose. Take first potion - > Corpse Collector - > take second potion - > Grave Digger - > take third potion - > Spirit Medium Take first potion - > Sleepless - > take second potion - > Midnight Poet > take third potion - > Nightmare Take first potion - > Seer - > take second potion - > Clown - > ..... old Niel is part of the Mystery Pryer pathway, and is at Sequence 9. I'd detail more, but I don't want to spoil anything. But different churches and groups have access to different pathway potions. The Evernight church, therefore, the nighthawks have the later sequences for the Corpse Collector and Sleepless pathways. But they got access to the sequence 9 of Seer and Mystic Pryer at some point, but they don't have the recipe for the later sequences of them. Hence why the MC is having to figure it out. And without that sequence potion, they can't move down the sequence of the pathway they choose, and they can't change the pathway. And with this, we know that the Seer pathway is only known to this enemy group they are fighting in this episode, the ones wanting the book, the Secret Order. Also the professor's mark on his ear looks similar to the four marks Klien gets when he uses the fog's power. The writing sound in the credits is apart of the song. The song is Dark Dream, and its in the full version of it.

2025-07-09 19:12:51 +0000 UTCRight so the fog is something of an ultimate level existence. Everytime he goes through it, he hears murmurs that's enough to drive beyonders insane, so he thinks the monster guy roaring and creating chaos is nothing in comparison. The cards he threw are the ones the captain gave him. It's sorta of a spell, pre made using sleepless ability to put others in slumber. You can use it as long as u are a beyonder I think, no matter paths. If this helps clear it up a bit.

2025-07-09 10:54:50 +0000 UTCI think they will do this anime the way JJK was done. They will throw at you a lot of stuff quickly and then go back to world building, some of it in terms of flashbacks. Just how JJK starts with some fighting and even introduce Sukuna before you learn too much about Sukuna and then it starts the world building and character development.

2025-07-08 09:26:55 +0000 UTCSomething to keep in mind, the 22 pathway is the tool that humans use to become beyonder and get close to the divine, it doesn't mean it is the be all and end all of everything related to all the mysteries of this world, otherwise there is no mysteries at all since you know the Top levels people of this world already known the 22 pathways. I think people get mix up thinking 22 pathways explains everything, it explains a lot but at end of the day it is still just formula that humans come up with to explain and deal with the horrifying super natural world. The Frog is the core of the mysteries of the book, so it will take time to reveal itself, now Audrey thought it was "Divine Realm" in the first 1st ep. Now the anime didn't cover the intense murmuring of the frog, remember he screams the first time he get into that space, there was intense bombardment to his mind and soul from the frog, he only got to use to it after awhile, the pacing of the 1st ep was so fast it skips bunch steps so we never see him struggles with the frog.

2025-07-07 20:25:02 +0000 UTCAnother novel reader here. Loved the reaction! The meanings of Justice and Hanged Man tarot cards were very interesting, I hadn't actually ever looked into it. I've read the whole novel, and I can see some of the ways they mirror the characters. Interesting stuff! The newspaper on the professor's desk most likely was a news article about Klein's two classmates, Welch and Naya. The official cover story mentioned in the webnovel was "a violent burglar killed two graduates, but was later captured by the police". SEQUENCE SYSTEM I like to explain the sequence system by comparing them into class tiers in games. Fighter -> Swordsman -> Knight -> Holy Knight -> Paladin. Higher tier still has the abilities of the lower tier, but also unlocks new ones. The potion itself is just a class unlock, and everyone has the same starting point. After advancing, you have poor control over your powers, hear and see weird things, etc. And the advancement isn't always straightforward. Seer -> Clown isn't the only weird and unexpected advancement. That's why knowing the name of the next sequence is so important. Even if you somehow knew all the sequence 8 potions, you wouldn't be sure which one you can take. SEER There are many different divination methods Seers can use. Technically, other beyonders could learn some of them too, but the others have to study and practice them a lot, while they come naturally to seers, and seers interpret and get more information from divination. - All divination requires a connection. Divining answers related to yourself is easier, but to divine something about other people, you need to be next to them, or have something like clothing they've worn, important keepsakes, or hair and blood. This was already shown but not explained in the anime. - Dowsing rod gives you a direction. It was subtler in the webnovel, but I love how the donghua turned that into something much more visually striking. - The pendulum confirms or denies statements ("It is very safe" -> "yes, it is safe", "There is danger here" -> "yes, great danger"). - Dream divination gives vague visions, or lets a seer interpret their dreams. For a seer, dreams are often important.

2025-07-07 18:08:37 +0000 UTCYour editor and comments from the last one might have mentioned it, but since you were reviewing the Sequences & Paths at the start of this episode - I believe the captain mentions specifically in ep1 that the church has the full path for Sleepless (so like 9 through 1) and only has Sequence 9 for Seer

2025-07-07 16:34:00 +0000 UTCGray Fog is a better translation to be honest. And each sequence are named accordingly, pathways are like "Job" class, sequences are like the mastery levels for each job. Another big thing that I think anime didn't explain well is that during each time Klein goes above the Gray Fog, he has to endure a series of murmuring that tries to break his psyche before reaching above the Gray Fog. And it helped Klein a lot in dealing with psyche attacks like when Bieber was screaming.

2025-07-07 16:24:19 +0000 UTCAo there are pathways and every pathways has sequences start with sequence 9. Every sequence in every pathways has their own name. If anyone want to be a beyonder, first they have to chose a pathway, have the potion formula and ingredients for its seq 9 then make it and consuming. As for the potion formula they are not available to everyone. In his kingdom(?) all three of the churches control a few of the pathways and their formula for some of its pathways. For example in mc org they have seq.9 seer potion formula but missing the next ones.

2025-07-07 16:04:36 +0000 UTCWith episode 3 the subtitles are alot better due to a new translator. Also the first two episodes have or will get a overhauled translation which makes more sense and gives better information. Since they put the first 3 episodes on fast forward, alot of worldbuilding was left out but theres a special additions to the episodes not available on crunchyroll which are named "Lord Of The Mysteries Old Neil's Mysticism Class" which give some more information about the world. Someone named Merlin Sparrow subtitled them on youtube. These give some more background to all the stuff which is still confusing.
