Shisui came to check on Xaolin, because they're friends and she was worried when she heard what happened. Also, the fact that they're so worried about a breach birth, when they are alerted to the possibility before hand, really goes to show how crazy it was that the Empress Dowager had to have a c section when the Emperor was born. And that she survived, and was still able to bear children after. Maomao's dad must be the reincarnation of Asclepius to have pulled that off.

2025-06-09 03:36:33 +0000 UTCYeah, breech births are scary. My youngest sister was almost breech AND backwards. Her spine was along my mom’s stomach and her feet were kicking her kidneys, lol. My mom was 42 at the time to top it off, but she’s Mexican, she was at work throwing trash bags out when her water broke. Luckily, my sister positioned herself correctly in time for birth, but it definitely could have been crazy.

2025-06-07 23:58:16 +0000 UTCi love that this episode pays off the last couple of eps where hongniang and the triplets keep questioning maomao's allegiance to lady gyokuyou. a taster on loan who keeps flitting between the different concubines how could she be trust worthy? and then we see the minute maomao has concerns lady gyokuyou immediately is hearing her out and consulting her, heck in the baths episode she explicitly told maomao to gather gossip and info for her trusting her to be discrete. she 100% trusts maomao and kinda puts a new light on why she doesnt want her to go back to jinshi, people like that are very hard to come by. now with gaoshun talking about bringing maomao into jinshi's camp and by extension possibly lakan we can see how gyokuyou could also see maomao as a political asset in her bid to become empress.

As a male, I think it's wonderful to have that perspective and learn so much just from watching an anime. The first time I've heard about "breech delivery" was from Apothecary Diaries, and now it scares the life out of me, even though I know I'll never have go through it myself.
