Slaves or servants were usually a big part of it, as complicated as having ducting through houses, and people would work bellows or fans to pump and circulate air through interiors. They also invented one of the first refrigerators that also doubled as an air conditioner, using ice they could both cool their refreshments and, as the ice melted it would pump cool air into the room. During the feast scene you can see the buckets of water on the floor, they would have been chilled, and the cool water evaporating would have helped cool the room. It doesn't compare to what we have today, but back then it was light years ahead of what most of the world was doing.

They’re basically aphrodisiacs, which is why Jinshi is asking if it’s really ok for him to eat and drink them, and why Basen gets a nosebleed. It seems someone might be trying to expose Jinshi’s non-eunuch nature or maybe just embarrass him. Your heart rate was slightly elevated from the start. Your resting rate is usually really low because you have the athletic body so it doesn’t look raised but I’m sure it was. It’s the anticipation, right? You knew something was going to happen and your mind was racing with the possibilities. I always find that stuff interesting. I wasn’t one of the people asking for the heart rate monitor but I appreciated it. Thanks.

2025-05-28 16:12:47 +0000 UTCRemember when Maomao gets fired and Gyokuyou tells Jinshi he's going to regret it? I'm pretty sure she's still a little irked that Jinshi fired HER Maomao. It's not Gyokuyou's fault he bought her, if it was up to her she never would have been fired.

2025-05-28 13:31:31 +0000 UTCThis was definitely one of those episodes that was really made me regret watching it weekly. I needed to see what was next. I do find names particularly interesting too. Kousen, from my understanding, means something akin to a ray of light. It fits with Jinshi in certain ways, the least of which was him acting as the Moon Fairy earlier in the season. And according to the wiki, feifa means "flying explosion", and it's apparently a historical term for some early versions of firearms. But I don't personally know much about that myself. But anyways, loved your reaction and it was fun to see that little number go up at certain moments. About to check out the episode 12 reaction now.
