Just to save you some time: I believe every episode has a mid-credit scene. :D So you were right, that father/son at the beginning of the episode was the security guard from episode one and his step-son. He had finally taken the kid to Europe as a congrats for getting his shit together. Nobody expected the garbage bag Mark threw when he got his powers would end up almost killing them. :D
