So, I'm not gonna post an insanely long comment again like I did before but objectively speaking the Kira task force is at fault for L's death and I think by this point the show made pretty clear why. I basically love how Near is straight up telling them and the show makes it clear that the task force are a bunch of idiots. A total disgrace for policemen...Keep in mind that everything Near is coming up with here is also something L himself previously hypothesized and even mentioned to everyone around him. But sure....if it's Near who brings up these arguments it's far more believable... You can probably see by now why the multiple adaptations of Death Note *all* decided on rewriting these events...because it doesn't make any logical sense. Also, Light proves that he is smart during the second half of the show way more in comparison to the first half. The first half was him being lucky 75% of the time. He got smarter within the 4 year timeskip, but before that...he wasn't nearly as smart as the show presented him.
