I have this same problem, i have religious trauma and i think you can speak on it because you experienced it, and it is something that has deeply affected your life with not only your family life but youre religious beliefs in general

On the topic of religion and the person who said you were mocking God, they mention that faith is deeply personal/sensitive. With that thought how do they not see that one’s “lighthearted mockery” is also that persons personal connection to religion, and is 100% valid imo. I grew up going to a christian church with a very religious mom, who to this day, continues to let me know she hopes god will save me from eternal damnation. And as much as I think it hasn’t had an impact, it probably has. Religious trauma is real and idk man, I think you’re allowed to discuss it however you like as long as it’s not blatantly attacking individuals of that religion. Just some thoughts thooo

The Cody Ko stuff is so funny to me because i literally have been on the same vibe. I actually have quietly followed his life since the beginning and i was worried i was also over-psychoanalyzing little things about him, or between Kelsey, or even him and Noel at one point, and it like started becoming invasive in my life to where I’d subconsciously be putting off watching their videos because i was getting stressed out on a weird parasocial personal level. As a Muslim myself I feel like I have a level of responsibility to honestly just apologize that this was your experience w this religion. Your feelings towards Islam and really any religion are clearly going to be affected by how you learn/are taught about them. So it’s completely understandable how you make some “lighthearted mockery” of religious topics lol. I am also a first generation immigrant, from Egypt. But I feel tremendously lucky that my parents were able to teach me this religion in a way where I felt like I was still able to make my own decisions. So yeah I guess the point of this comment is just to say your experiences and feelings are completely valid and understandable, and unfortunately way too common in the Muslim world. I appreciate you sharing cause I understand it’s probably not the most comfortable thing. Much love <3
