Breaking the Ice
Added 2023-04-06 07:23:38 +0000 UTCI don't meet my muses before the shoots. It is a rule I have, cos I simply do not have the time for this additional time. I feel once you have a body of work, a strict work ethic and conviction of what you want to do, the muses can sense it too.
But no matter how many times I have shot someone, I still never take anything for granted. I would not jump into a shot, without letting them warm up, get comfortable. People come in with various moods from the day, so to allow them to get into your mood will always be a good idea. So, I normally like to talk a lot, discuss my new gear or previous shoots (nothing ever personal). Then we start shooting slowly and the first half an hour is absolutely useless shooting trying to figure out light and vibe we want.
These are from The French Connection Continues. The first shoot with Solange, we were both a bit unsure of how far we would go. Then post shoot discussions revealed that she is now extremely comfortable and we could try some more.
I feel this is an important aspect to my genre or to any genre maybe. So we met and shot again.
