Yeah, this is considered to be one of, if not the most, violent Studio Ghibli movies. It sets the message that humans basically fuck everything up and we suck. Not even joking, Miyazaki likes to showcase how much we mess up nature through war and greed under a coat of whimsy and cute characters.
