IOAFD - 1147. Comparing Swords (II)

Chen Wentian was blown away by Luo Ming’s third movement. The sword frenzy that was Destroy All Hells swept away everything before it. Chen Wentian’s small figure was just a speck of dust before its might.

Puu!

Chen Wentian spat out a mouthful of blood as he flew away. He wasn’t acting this time. At the moment of impact, he had covered himself with the protective power of the Golden Serpent. Even so, he still suffered internal injuries from the heavy blow.

This battle was difficult, perhaps the most difficult one since he became an immortal. His opponent was powerful and he was also restrained by many factors. He was still within the territory of the Limitless Sword Hall. There were undoubtedly observers everywhere. He couldn’t reveal all of his secrets without a care like his previous battles, at least not yet.

Chen Wentian continued to flee, propelled by the power of Destroy All Hells to leap ahead by several kilometers. Yet, Luo Ming was even faster and quickly caught up.

Luo Ming was still chuckling, “Run, keep running. I want to see how long you can hold on.”

Chen Wentian looked back and grinned, wiping the blood from his kips, “Your Dugu sword is pretty good. I’ll fight seriously from now on. Come on, let’s compare swords once more!”

His White Star Sword also glowed bright with sword energy. He called upon the Purple Jade Beetle’s soul and drawing upon its natural talent for sword cultivation. Compared to his primary soul, the beetle was several times better.

Dugu’s Tenth Sword, First Movement, Slash the World!

One flash of sword light left Chen Wentian’s sword.

Another flash of sword light left Luo Ming’s sword at the same time.

It was the same move but also different. The two collided and created an enormous cross-shaped symbol in the air that lingered for a long time.

Seeing this result, Luo Ming was surprised once again. The Chen Wentian before him was nothing but an annoying ant. But now, this annoying ant was able to fight back in so many strange ways. His sword’s profound Dao suddenly tripled, turning from a casual cultivator of the sword who knew only a few good moves to an expert.

“Come!” He shouted with rising excitement, “Let’s compare some more!”

Dugu’s Tenth Sword, Second Movement, Pierce the Heavens!

Luo Ming’s sword stabbed forward. Chen Wentian’s sword met him swiftly with the same move.

Boom!

A blinding flash of sword light swept over the scenery below, flattening trees and collapsing mountains.

Chen Wentian once again lost out, but he again used the force of the impact to flee far away.

Luo Ming didn’t care too much, instead focusing on the moment the two swords clashed. He seemed to have understood something, something that benefited him.

“I understand it now… you have fooled everyone. You are actually a true sword cultivator! But how can you cultivate such different Daos at the same time? It is illogical! If you can do it, why can’t I? Should I explore other Daos in order to gain additional insights into the sword?”

With such thoughts, Luo Ming chased after Chen Wentian. He couldn’t kill this ant too quickly. He wanted to extract every secret he possessed.

Chen Wentian felt the same. He couldn’t reveal too many secrets at the same time. He had to reveal them little by little in order to draw Luo Ming further and further.

A ragged, bloody figure flew ahead, fleeing from three well-dressed old sword immortals. They formed a curious sight for the countless souls that were passed by in a blink. Mortals only knew that immortals were fighting. All they could do was hide. Otherwise, they risked extermination.

They left the territory of the Limitless Sword Hall and flew over untamed lands. First, they were surprised by Chen Wentian’s speed. Now, they were astonished by his stamina.

He had been flying at a full sprint for a full hour with no signs of slowing down. A normal Spirit Lord would have already fallen down from exhaustion. It was a pace that even Spirit Kings found difficult to maintain.

“Sword Master, how far do we have to chase?” Luo Xin asked.

“We can’t go on like this!” Luo Qin added.

While Luo Ming was having a good time on his flying sword, the two sword venerables had to burn their spiritual energies to keep up. They couldn’t keep going much longer.

“You’re right. Time to draw the net and bring him back,” Luo Ming said, “Use the Star River Sword Suppression Formation!”

“Yes, sword master!”

“Yes, sword master!”

With great bursts of energy, the two sword venerables shot ahead. One on each side of Chen Wentian, for a brief moment, they surpassed his speed and flew far ahead. Behind, Luo Ming also flew up, completing the triangular formation.

Sensing the shifting situation, Chen Wentian turned around as he flew and faced Luo Ming, “What, are you going to kill me now?”

Luo Ming sneered, “I have already told you. Your fate is in my hands. Whether you die or live no longer has anything to do with you.”

“Ah, that is a pity,” Chen Wentian said.

“Yes, a pity for you,” Luo Ming said and signaled with his eyes.

Luo Xin and Luo Qin reacted at the same time and waved their swords, activating the sword formation. As one, the three Spirit Kings of the Limitless Sword Hall moved to suppress this unruly Spirit Lord.

“It’s a pity,” Chen Wentian said as he watched the incoming sword lights that surrounded him from all directions, “I still wanted to compare swords with you.”

Luo Ming snorted, “Comparing swords? You are not good enough.”

“Really?” Chen Wentian said and held out the White Star Sword in a familiar way.

He held it towards the sky and let go, letting it spin freely. Guided by his divine energy, the sword spun faster and faster, creating flashing reflections. Then, these reflections created a hundred swords that also flashed with dazzling light.

“What!” Luo Ming blurted in shock.

“The Sword of Yashi Jilun?” Luo Xin asked.

“How did you learn it so quickly?” Luo Qin shouted.

Luo Ming was so shocked that he couldn’t speak. Even a sword genius like him couldn’t learn the sword art of dragons in such a short time. It was impossible, unless…

“Kill him!” He roared.

Woosh!

Countless sword lights from the Star River Sword Suppression Formation converged onto Chen Wentian, threatening to bury him under a surging star river.

Chen Wentian smiled, completely unperturbed by the impending doom, “Let me introduce this sword art’s true name… Hundred Reflections of Fate’s Return!”
