IOAFD - 1144. The Sword Art of Dragons (II)
Added 2026-01-15 02:24:29 +0000 UTCLuo Ming flew into the air and held out the sword towards the sky. With a flash, the sky brightened as if all the clouds had been forcibly swept away. The sword in his hand began to spin, gaining speed until it became a flashing blur. The flashing sword then created mirages around Luo Ming so that there were now ten flashing, spinning swords.
“Behold! The Sword of Yashi Jilun!”
Two of the swords moved, obeying his will. They descended like lightning, one towards Chen Wentian’s heart and the other towards his head.
Shiing!
Chen Wentian dodged the one aimed at his head and blocked the other with the White Star Sword. The impact sent sharp vibrations through his hand and up his arm. A wild spiritual energy tried to invade his body he forcibly repelled it.
“Not bad,” Luo Ming praised, “How about more swords?”
All ten swords moved freely, slashing, stabbing, attacking as if they had a mind of their own. All of them intended to cause grievous harm.
Sword met sword. Blue flames exploded in all directions. Chen Wentian utilized the limit of the Spirit Lord Realm to barely resist. He defended when he could and fled when he couldn’t. He held out for several minutes until the attack finally stopped.
Drip. Drip.
Fresh blood hit the ground, pouring from several fresh wounds.
Chen Wentian ignored the pain and stared up at Luo Ming and his ten flashing swords. This sword definitely reminded him of the style of divine dragons. He knew the first descent, Thousand Sword Crusade. Luo Ming’s sword contained a bit of the same essence, the same might and arrogance. But it was still far from the real deal.
Luo Ming retracted the ten swords into one and said, “I can tell from your expression, your guess is indeed correct. This sword art is still incomplete.”
He took out another half dragon claw, “This is what I comprehended from this half of the dragon claw, using twenty years of painstaking effort and pushing my pure sword heart to the limit. It was still not enough. But now…”
He waved his hand and the other half of the dragon claw floated up and joined together. It was a perfect fit, forming a complete ancient dragon claw. But after the two halves were reunited, nothing special happened.
Luo Ming frowned as he studied the whole dragon claw for a long time. He tried many things and even attacked it with his sword. It had no effect.
There was an awkward silence as the sword master looked from the dragon claw toward Chen Wentian and then back to the dragon claw in his hand. The implication was clear. Chen Wentian finally understood why they had kidnapped him along with Peng Lingxi.
“My flames only contain a faint trace of divine aura. What if it has no effect?” Chen Wentian asked.
“Then, I’ll kill you,” Luo Ming replied.
“And if it does work?”
“Naturally, if you can help me unlock the secrets within this dragon claw, I might not kill you. If you agree to reveal all your secrets and swear to obey the will of the Limitless Sword Hall with no reservations, then I can let you live.”
Chen Wentian snorted and held out his hand, “Well, either way sounds like death to me. Might as well get this over with.”
There was no use talking to this crazed sword master. For such a person who stood atop the subcontinent, Spirit Lords were nothing but servants. There was no use begging, no use bargaining. If one had no strength, they had no right to speak.
Chen Wentian took the two dragon claw halves and started burning them with his flames. He began with only a faint trace, roughly one percent blue dragon flames. He pressed the two halves together and tried to fuse them into a single piece. Soon, flames covered his entire body as he pretended to exert a great deal of power.
The three sword immortals watched him silently, using their spiritual sense to gauge the effect. At first, there was hardly anything noteworthy. But as the dragon claw halves continued to burn, they started to give off a faint, mysterious aura.
“Keep going! More flames!” Luo Ming ordered excitedly.
“Do it!” Luo Xin drew a sword and pressed against Chen Wentian’s neck.
Chen Wentian silently obliged, turned up the heat with two percent dragon flames. The divine aura from the dragon claw increased in response. Something was definitely happening, but it was something that these old geezers could have never expected.
Within Chen Wentian’s mind, the soul of the blue dragon stirred and became excited. Sensing the familiar aura from the dragon claw, it recalled a memory, a memory it had long forgotten…
---
“Grandpa, watch me!” The young blue dragon shouted energetically.
He wielded a sword made from a dragon claw and raised it towards the sky.
“Second Descent, Hundred Reflections of Fate’s Return!”
The sword in his hand began to spin, creating flashes of reflections using its smooth surface. The sword then transformed into a hundred swords like a mirage, surrounding the young blue dragon in all directions, a powerful sword domain that protected him completely.
“Good! Yun Xia, very good!” A smiling old man said and pointed a sword towards the young dragon, “Let grandpa test your second descent!”
Woosh!
A thousand swords appeared around him. It was the first descent of Ascalon, Thousand Sword Crusade.
In the next breath, the thousand swords clashed with the hundred flashing swords. Phantasmal swords struck each other, creating shockwaves of divine sword energy. The surrounding sky even became distorted as the two powerful sword arts battled each other.
Although the sword domain was outnumbered ten to one, it was still able to hold on. Faced with the almighty power of the Thousand Sword Crusade, the Hundred Reflections of Fate’s Return was able to resist without even a sign of breaking. One represented a supreme attack while the other was an unfathomable defense.
This was the true form of the second descent of the Sword of Yashi Julun.
---
Chen Wentain smiled within his soul realm. The soul of the blue dragon also smiled. Unexpectedly, he had gained a huge boon.
This dragon claw contained only the residual energy of the second descent. It had no writing, no details to reveal the truth. The claw was probably left behind by the supreme ancient dragon when it utilized Hundred Reflections of Fate’s Return as a final struggle before its death.
No human could completely comprehend it, even with both halves of the claw. Even if they had a pure sword heart, it was impossible. These sword fanatics, especially that crazy sword master, could have never imagined that someone else would be the ultimate winner of this situation.
In the entire world, only Chen Wentian could be so lucky!

I would say, its not all or nothing that one has to follow one single narrow topic. In this case, he is a sword fanatic. He can cultivate all kinds of sword arts. His cultivation advancement relates to his broad and fundamental understanding of sword Dao. And comprehending one of the most powerful in existence can help him advance. This might not be the case for other people. For example, Lin Qingcheng is quite narrow. She can only cultivate her special physique. If she practiced the dragon sword, its not going to do anything for her.

2026-01-16 00:03:09 +0000 UTCI think you can switch in the mortal stages but once you reach the lesser realms its more about building and following your path and continuing following that path to advace as an immortal, he is still a sword cultivator so while the dragon art is out of reach he can use that as a supporting knowledge to make his own art and advance that

2026-01-15 03:14:39 +0000 UTCSo if that luo ming, mastered incomplete version - chose sword arts of dragons - like his Dao or path (he did right?) - does this mean if it he doesn't comprehend it more he will neber be able to reach spirit emperor? That's how I understand cultivation in this novel, like if Wu qunyu doesn't comprehend more about pain in some way - she won't be able to advance further. Or is Luo ming's path is just about swords? Can he switch half way or this sword arts of dragons something like a technique? That's what I am confused about. What sword arts of dragons is exactly, just a technique like demon subdue palms or something like Dao
