IOAFD - 1142. An Unreasonable Sect

The journey to the Limitless Sword Hall was a quick one. After boarding the sect’s flying boat, it only took a couple of hours to reach the nearest city with a teleportation array. A few cities later and they had arrived.

Chen Wentian emerged from a teleportation array at the bottom of a vast mountain range, flanked by the two sword venerables. He gazed up at the hills and ravines covered by dense forest. The closest two mountain peaks were capped by snow and glaciers, serving as guardians to the only winding path that led into the sect.

It was a grand cultivation sect, situated amidst a rich spiritual land. This was no doubt the most precious place within the Western Wumu Subcontinent. It made him a little bit jealous.

“Where is my disciple?” He asked.

“She is no longer your concern,” The older Luo Xin replied, “But you can rest assured. The Limitless Sword Hall will take good care of her. She will not suffer any harm. She will have a far better life here.”

The slightly younger but still old Luo Qing sneered at Chen Wentian, “The same can’t be said for you. If you don’t cooperate or if you still have thoughts of rebelling, I promise that you will suffer a fate worse than death!”

“Enough, the sword master is waiting. Let’s go.”

“Let’s go!”

The two Spirit Kings carried Chen Wentian with their spiritual energy and flew into the air. They soared over the pair of guardian mountain peaks and entered a grand sect complex hidden behind them. Although it was all very impressive and fancy beyond words, Chen Wentian only focused on what mattered.

His spiritual sense scanned the surroundings, taking note of the number of disciples, the number of elders, and the number of immortals. Aside from Luo Xin and Luo Qing, he sensed three more Spirit King Realm presences ahead.

Aside from the Spirit Kings, there were an unreasonable number of Spirit Lords. With a casual look around, he counted seven or eight. They were moving around, performing their daily duties. Given the number of Spirit Kings, he estimated that there were probably close to fifteen Spirit Lords in total.

The Limitless Sword Hall really was an unreasonable sect. Its power far exceeded the norms for a subcontinent. Just by itself, it could fight against the Immortal Association of the Eastern Sanmu Subcontinent.

The situation proved to be far riskier than he expected. He would have to adjust his plans and do it quickly. From the attitude of the two sword venerables, he didn’t have a lot of time.

“Jasmine!” He called out using his soul realm.

“What?” She asked.

“We need to change the battlefield. Quickly, ask Tiantian if we can force the enemy into a spatial crack and take him out of the Limitless Sword Hall?”

The original plan had been to invade the sect and kill the sword master with overpowering force. Then, they would retreat the way they came and nobody would know what had happened. Now, that was impossible. The sword master only had to hold on for a little while before help came in the form of four Spirit Kings and countless Spirit Lords.

There was a brief pause before Jasmine replied, “She said it is possible but they would have to be temporarily subdued. Otherwise, their rampant spiritual energy could disrupt the teleportation channel and end up in the middle of nowhere. She could also strengthen the channel on both ends to ensure it can withstand some resistance.”

“How long does she need?” He asked.

“She says thirty seconds, at least,” She replied.

“Not long enough, we’re switching to the backup plan!”

“Are you sure?” She asked, “Tiantian is going to be pissed.”

“She can be pissed all she wants. I’m not risking everyone’s lives like this!”

“Fine!”

Their backup plan was simply to run away. They could always get revenge on the Limitless Sword Hall another day. There were so many Spirit Kings in the world that he could help Tiantian kill. It didn’t have to be the sect master of such a monstrous sect.

As Chen Wentian discussed the escape plan with Jasmine, he soon reached the core area of the Limitless Sword Hall. They had flown past the main complex, past the hundreds of thousands of disciples, and arrived at a secluded mountain peak that was the private cultivation area of the sect master.

Atop the peak, which was devoid of trees, stood a single person who watched their arrival with an expressionless gaze.

While Chen Wentian went to meet the sword master of the Limitless Sword Hall, Peng Lingxi was dealing with her own troubles. After she exited the teleportation array, she was immediately led away by Luo Ping and his butler to his private manor. He led her to a tranquil garden where a set of tea and refreshments had already been prepared.

He poured her a cup but she didn’t touch it at all.

“Why are you doing this?” She asked, “Is it worth so much for my pure sword heart?”

Luo Ping stared across the table at the beauty that reminded him of a noble swordswoman. She could perfectly portray the heroines of ancient stories. She was flawless.

“Miss Peng, my promise remains the same. I will not hurt you. I will not force you. But it is indeed my intention to keep you by my side forever. I hope that I can slowly make you see the depths of my feelings for you and that I will always keep my word.”

Peng Lingxi rolled her eyes, “How many women have you said that to? Perhaps you have already lost count.”

He shook his head, “You are the only one. You have a pure sword heart. Perhaps you don’t understand what that means. You should know, my talent for the sword is the greatest in the last one hundred years. If there are no accidents, I will become a Spirit King. I will be the future sword master. No one can keep up with my attainments in sword arts, no one except you.”

He paused and took a sip of tea to calm his fluttering heart. Speaking these words to her was even more thrilling than a life-or-death battle.

“Miss Peng, with your pure sword heart, as long as you stay by my side, you will also become a Spirit King.”

Peng Lingxi shook her head, “Such words are useless to me. The only thing that matters to me is the sword. If you can bring out the sword art of divine dragons, I may consider your offer. Otherwise, it is useless.”

Luo Ping smiled, “The sword art of dragons is a little inconvenient. It is incomplete and it is also too powerful. Only my grandfather, the sword master, has a chance of comprehending it. For mortals like us, there is something more suitable.”

He took out a jade slip and placed it on the table. He slid it across and Peng Lingxi sensed its contents with her spiritual aura.

“The Sword of Saint's Conception?” She asked, “So, you are no different from other men after all.”

He blushed and finished his cup of tea, “You are free to study this sword art. I won’t hide anything from you. Nor am I ashamed to ask for what I desire.”

Peng Lingxi wasn’t one to say no to a powerful sword art, even if it was a dual cultivation art. It wasn’t like she was going to do it with him.

“Anything else. I can tell this Sword of Saint's Conception is only for cultivating sword intent and gaining sword insights. It is not actually very useful in a fight.”

Luo Ping smiled again and placed five more jade slips on the table, “Don’t worry. This is the Limitless Sword Hall. The types of sword arts we have are limitless!”

Some times things don't just go to plan, can't have chen win every encounter.

It will be so disappointing if they are going to chicken out at the last moment and finale of the arc is going to be so underwhelming. Why are you doing this to us Mr. Green?

VV

Oh lengxi getting a sword dual cultivation art nice. But too bad there won't be any king killing this Arc 😔

This weekend, most of the time was spent rereading the previous chaps of this arc and dealing with some minor edits and plot holes. Here is a summary of the fixes: There was a plothole where I forgot about the lotus lady, Gong Liyun. Added a scene with her to ch1140 so that she at least complains about the sword guys taking Chen. There was a bit of a plothole in ch1048 that mentioned the martial brilliance continent. But in the end, they didn't have any impact on the finale of the arc so I will just remove them to simplify things and focus the baddies of the arc on the eastern light clan and the house of armament. ch1073, added more hints from Shi Shi about the divine beast graveyard and that it hides more secrets. Setup for what Gao Hong found with the divine kingdom. ch1082, the sword bros mentioned a jade slip. But it became just a dragon claw in later chaps, so I changed that minor detail to be a dragon claw. ch1085, mentioned that disciples could not use flying spirit artifacts in the valley to fill a plothole. ch1102, ch1103, forgot one of Ming He’s women is not at lesser realms, the ice girl. She can’t enter the divine beast graveyard so I had to remove her from the chaps and just say that she went with other weaker disciples.
