IOAFD - 1138. Another Win, Win, Win Situation

The shock of Zhe Xu’s defeat took a while to set in. The mining cave remained silent for an entire minute before people started to whisper amongst themselves.

“Was that strength test actually correct?”

“Is she really that strong?”

They had now witnessed Wu Qianyu’s strange and overpowered attack twice. Once was a fluke. Twice proved it was real. Some doubted whether Zhe Xu was particularly weak to Wu Qianyu’s special attack but it was a useless thought. Few present could claim they were stronger than Zhe Xu.

“Well, that was certainly exciting,” Ming He said, drawing everyone’s attention back to the matter at hand, the fact that the Southern Temple and the Eastern Light Clan wanted to rob Ten Thousand Flower Valley of the dragon horn they found, “Miss Wu, you may have defeated Brother Zhe. But what about me?”

Behind him, a few bystanders muttered their displeasure at his words. But they didn’t dare to step forward and get in the way. Some also wanted to see Wu Qianyu unleash her attack again so that they could properly pay attention and broaden their horizons.

Wu Qianyu stared at Ming He calmly, with Chen Wentian whispering instructions in her ear, “Young Master Ming, is the Eastern Light Clan unwilling to let us go on this matter?”

Ming He smiled, “It is a dragon horn, an extremely precious divine beast’s remains. It will be better if the Immortal Association takes it. It will provide a greater benefit to human cultivators and humanity. If you want to keep it, then you have to prove that your sect has the strength.”

Wu Qianyu remained silent for a long while. Everyone stared at her, waiting for her reaction, waiting for another exciting match.

“Fine, here. You can have it,” She said finally, defying all of their expectations. She took the dragon horn and threw it at Ming He, “In exchange, I hope the Eastern Light Clan can stop causing trouble for Ten Thousand Flower Valley in the future.”

Ming He coughed the horn and quickly stowed it away in his spatial bag. His smile turned into a chuckle, “Of course, of course. The conflict between our sects is just a misunderstanding. Even my father doesn’t agree, even if your master doesn’t agree, I, Ming He, will owe Miss Wu a great favor of gratitude.”

He waved to his people, “Come, let’s go!”

With that, the excitement came to a close. Both the Southern Temple and the Eastern Light Clan returned to their camps. The Southern Temple’s disciples unhappily carried their senior brother into a tent to recover while the Eastern Light Clan disciples celebrated their unexpected victory.

None of Chen Wentian’s disciples or his souls were disappointed, having received his instructions and his thoughts. This dragon horn wasn’t specifically helpful to anyone. It did not contain a dragon’s source of power. It did not contain anything that could gift a person a dragon’s divine art. It was only worth a lot of money as a crafting material.

However, it was uniquely helpful to Ming He because he had detected that this dragon horn originally belonged to a shining dragon, the same shining dragon with the divine art First Light of Zhulong. There was still a substantial amount of energy from the First Light of Zhulong within the horn. If Ming He cultivated with this horn in hand, he would be able to reach the immortal realm, even without needing to complete the Wuxing and master all five light elements.

It was a win, win situation for Chen Wentian.

The only people left unhappy were the Southern Temple.

Even after applying spiritual medicine and recovery talismans, Zhe Xu remained in a weakened state, drifting in and out of consciousness. His body, mind, and spirit had all been damaged by Wu Qianyu’s overwhelming pain. It was something he had never experienced before, so his wounds were especially grave. Perhaps, if he faced her a second time in the future and prepared for the pain, he wouldn’t end up in such a state. But it was already too late.

Taking advantage of the chaos amongst the Southern Temple disciples, Chen Wentian’s shadow fox stealthily infiltrated Zhe Xu’s tent, bypassing its protective arrays while the other disciples went in and out, carrying water and medicine. During a lull in the activity, he quickly took human form and tapped his index finger between Zhe Xu’s brow.

This was what he had been aiming for from the beginning. He let Ming He intentionally weaken Zhe Xu and then lose the duel. He then let Wu Qianyu go all out to incapacitate Zhe Xu and trigger his protective treasure which resided within an unremarkable belt. It was all for taking over this strong cultivator’s soul.

Taking over a human soul was never a careless process for Chen Wentian. He always had to be wary of the risk of losing his soul and everything he had worked for.

The souls of the Beast God Sanctum had been relatively easy. He Xingping, Yang Cang, Qu Jing, the Beast God Sanctum did not have a deep foundation and thus were unaware of many things. They did not protect their top-tier disciples to the same level as other great sects.

As for Ming He of the Eastern Light Clan and Tian Yunhao of the House of Armament, Chen Wentian had ambushed them within the Eastern Sanmu Metropolis, where it was supposed to be safe. These two also hadn’t been too outstanding, meaning their sects didn’t protect them excessively.

It was entirely different for people like Zhe Xu. The top disciple of a Spirit King Realm sect who was venturing into a dangerous area, he was provided the best protection his master could provide.

The moment Chen Wentian’s soul touched Zhe Xu’s soul, an invisible battle began.

In the battle between souls, there could only be one winner. According to the Anatta Soul Nirvana Art, the winner took everything and the loser would disappear forever. If Zhe Xu won, Chen Wentian would no longer be Chen Wentian. All of his souls would no longer be Chen Wentian but instead become Zhe Xu.

Chen Wentian’s Spirit King Realm soul surged against Zhe Xu’s mortal soul, weakened by a long duel with Ming He and tortured by Wu Qianyu. Zhe Xu’s mortal soul retreated step by step, overwhelmed by the difference in realms. He retreated steadily until it seemed that there was nowhere else left to run. It was then that Zhe Xu lashed out with a powerful counterattack.

Woosh!

A mysterious energy surrounded Zhe Xu and began to push back. It was powerful, containing a profound might that seemed to look down on everything in the world. It didn’t even hold Chen Wentian’s Spirit King Realm soul within its eyes.

“This… is the true strength of the Fists of the Southern God?” Chen Wentian wondered.

He didn’t know much about it but the name Southern God sounded unrestrained and arrogant. He didn’t take it lightly. He didn’t know if this Southern God was a supreme expert at the peak of the immortal realms or the manifestation of a Great Dao or even a nirvana secret art.

“You have the Southern God but I have a divine blue dragon!”

Roar!

The space around the two souls was instantly consumed by a blue firestorm. With the strength of the blue dragon soul which was also at the Spirit King Realm, Chen Wentian attacked ferociously.

Zhe Xu’s soul, backed by the power of the Southern God, was pushed back once again, pushed all the way into a corner. There was nowhere to retreat to and no more strength to resist. After all, he was merely a mortal who had only cultivated a trace of this so-called Southern God. Even so, Chen Wentian estimated that if he had been at the Spirit Lord Realm, this battle would have been far more dangerous.

Roar!

Blue dragon flames consumed the entire soul space, consuming Zhe Xu completely.

Finally, it was all over. Chen Wentian breathed out a sigh and smiled. It was another win, win, win situation. He added Zhe Xu to his soul realm. He obtained the dragon horn for Ming He and let his disciples throw away that hot potato so they would attract other people’s greed.

All in all, it was a good harvest.
