I really didn't have big plans for this initial sketch but it felt like it had potential, so I stuck with it. I was initially going to give her a side pony like in her new MarioKart World design but then I thought twin tails would be suitably 70's for her. How it started ⬇️

I've been really into the 70's vibes this month and it shows in the color palette I set for myself at the beginning of the month. This ochre-y yellow I chose as an accent color is trickier than expected because it's too green to make much sense in a flesh tone context, but it's great for a yellow sweater.

Color is something I used to be quite bad at, but studying and stealing colors from past art over time has gotten me accustomed to seeing opportunities with it.

It's so fun to do things like create a really cold blue out of the most neutral gray tone by letting it play off the other colors in an image.
