A week into the month is long enough to wait for a report so I’ll be sharing this one ahead of the next  CYOA update. 🙂

Sometimes I debate the wisdom of putting goals out only to miss them repeatedly because of how that must look to all of you, but I hope it at least communicates a sense of direction of what I’m trying (and failing) to do. 😅 I'm going to keep trying month after month no matter what 😤

Anyways, here’s the report on what we tried and succeeded in doing, onto the report! 📊

✅Peaches Zine Finish

Kitt’s🐰 been working with me on making more parts of my work more efficient over the past year and it’s starting to bear fruit! Namely, peaches.

Getting Libby & Holly Chapter 3 in the store in February and Peaches in the store in March is proof that what we have been trying to do all along is starting to gel!

The first half of the month for me was dominated by revising and polishing the Peach art for the zine and completely redoing some art to help it fit into the whole project a bit better. Here are some of the biggest before/afters

These two examples in particular went from being kinda meh sketches to some of my favorite drawings in the book. :)

We’re going to keep experimenting with smaller releases like this between the bigger comic releases. Maybe you don’t need a Peaches zine but a garden witches zine might be more your flavor, or a Princess Daisy Zine etc.😏 Or perhaps a new sticker or two :) Little projects like this help us figure out how to better prepare for the big ones.

✅Sketcbook things. 

My sketchbook work was split between satyr explorations and a little bit of Daisy stuff! 

These are all pretty rough so far but they might make the same sort of transformation as the Peaches did before they make it to print.

✅Satyr x Swordsman Character Poll
Like many artists, I’m susceptible to scope creep. The satyr x swordsman comic hasn’t really gotten any bigger, but I let myself get lost in the design weeds far longer than I should have.

While it's admirable to try to make things juuuuust right, as an individual I'm more likely to go too far, rather than not far enough down this path, so it's important to cut myself off and focus on what's best for the project.

I took some time to reign that in and put the challenge of selecting designs in front of you all, which is helping quite a lot 💚 I feel good about all the designs and I'm happy to go in whatever direction is picked, so thank you for helping with that difficult task. (VOTING ENDS FRIDAY!)

While the voting is going on this week I’ve been working on the script (this will be another story with dialog!) and I hope to have thumbnails and roughs rolling in next week as well as creating a visual style target for the story. I have not yet decided how the line style or color will look, except that it will be limited as usual :)

⏹️CYOA Pt.17
I struggled with two things in March: Updating the Orc and the Tower CYOA Pt. 17 and making regular updates. I've been trying to ease into the CYOA by sketching our valiant heroes, but I think it's just going to take some deliberate focus time to figure it all out.

The CYOA is bad, but the lack of general updates is almost worse because I have been making things I just forget to share them, especially when working toward a goal like the Peaches zine release. I’m going to try to have at least weekly updates of sketchbook things for Gold patrons and polished stuff or at least previews so you can see a bit more of the ongoing process. 

So…what’s next? No, not more Peaches😉 even if Nintendo is in the news a lot right now.

April Goals

⏹️CYOA Part 17 Update - This is my very next task. See ya later this week!

⏹️Weekly Updates - This shouldn’t be hard and maybe I’ll even find a rhythm for weekly updates.

⏹️Satyr x Swordsman Comic Pages 4x - This is a low bar but I know I’ll be getting through the initial roughs and thumbnails for more than this, I just want this many finished pages.

⏹️International Sales?? - To be honest this one's looking really iffy right now, not because it's any less feasible, but because I don't know how unnecessarily expensive it might be to ship things across borders right now. Good god this is so fucking stupid, sorry gang. I'll still look into making it happen!
