Libby & Holly Chapter 3 (complete-ish) WIP

I'm still working on updating the latter pages with color and it's taking a while 😓

I had a quick look at the eromanga artists you mentioned in the comment below and I was both surprised and appeased at how some of the facial expressions and poses they draw are so similar to the ones found in your drawings. My main thought was, “OH, so he didn’t come up with it on his own”. And this is so helpful for when I’m dealing with my personal creative insecurities ❤️

2025-01-04 00:52:41 +0000 UTCYou're spot on, I think after finishing up projects more inspired by western comic artists/illustrators I wanted to try indulging in the stylistic approach of hentai manga. I really like how they create space to just show off how beautiful their characters are a lot of the time too :) I haven't used a lot of thought bubbles in my work in the past but it's become especially useful since so much of this story is in Libby's head to some extent because I feel like the eroticism comes from her anxiety about being caught and trying to read Holly, who has a very different temperament from her own. I appreciate you reading into things this much ❤️ I'll definitely talk about it more in the future knowing that there are fellow nerds who might enjoy the thoughts behind the process. :)

Your art is so very cute and evocative, there's several times I laughed out loud and was incredibly endeared to the characters the whole way through! As a fellow art history nerd (my special interest is statues and patina) and a kitchen witch, I really appreciated the rendering of the birch spirit and enjoy Aster's general vibe. 2024-12-31 17:47:48 +0000 UTCI noticed this just recently, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but the whole way you structured this comic (paneling, flow, narration) seems very much like the one of a hentai manga. I guess that’s intentional, considering how you stated multiple times they influence your work. If my guess is correct, I’d be curious to hear more of it in your art talks next year. :) And don’t worry about the “lack” of content during the holidays, I mean they’re called like that for a reason lol. It takes time to make something like that, and with the holidays at the end of the year it's not getting easier to squeeze everything in the limited time per day.
