Satyr & Swordsman sneak peak explorations

Ever since satyrs came up as a part of the theme/fanart poll I've had an idea rolling around in the back of my head that I'm starting to develop into something that could be a short comic for after Libby & Holly Ch3.
My plan would be to just make a short little diversion of it, not really take too long away from libby & holly or maybe even work on them both in tandem, which as I write it out, seems like an incredibly bad idea, knowing how I handle juggling projects😅
Art talk:
People have a lot of different philosophies when it comes to character design but my interest is always in clarity first and eroticism/personality second. I hope to be able to say something about the character by how they look, but also dress them for the kind of stage they're performing on, which in this case is an erotic one.
I think it's kinda fun for the Satyr's lower half to have spots at once reminiscent of a deer butt and also torn tights, like I've been drawing on Libby. It's kinda natural for the fur to taper off along clothing lines, and I'm not sure if it's going to be a pants waistline or a pantyline, yet.
The other thing I think is interesting will be figuring out how to make big, doe-y goat eyes (yeah I'm blending animals here hehe) I think it would be a fun character flourish but realistic goat eyes are just uncanny-- you can't tell where they're looking, and I think that'd be hard to get around for a character in a romantic story.
In any event, I'm toying around with different directions for this cutie's counterpart in the story, a swordsman of some sort. :) I feel like I haven't just drawn a dude in a weirdly long time.

EDIT: I personally think it would be awesome to give him body hair. I love hatching (and I know you do, too), it would be a great opportunity to play around with patterns and such.

2024-08-13 23:27:15 +0000 UTCMy understanding is that the horizontal pupils are a prey animal thing; they confer better peripheral vision (for like constantly scanning the horizon) at the expense of focused binocular vision. So for a biped like a satyr I think it makes perfect sense to go with round pupils if you prefer. (There, now it's ~science~)
