October Report

Happy November, everyone! Thank you for your support as I figure out my new projects this month. Here’s where things stand with my goals for the past month.

Here's a little recap update for the month, which I'm going to break up based on the individual goals from last month for a change of format.

🎃October Plan:

✅Keep fanart-ing in simple color palette.

I had been wanting to keep playing with simple color palettes this month and spend more time drawing the same character and play  with this montage/character sheet kinda format and I really liked the results when trying it out on Isabela from Dragon Age.

I’m going to open up another post today for patrons to give new fanart/theme suggestions. It’s okay if they’re repeat, you always have great ideas, I just don’t always get around to them. I’ll put together a poll later this week with some of my favorites :)

✅Continue CYOA

I don’t really think of it this way but the CYOA is kind of its own improvised comic project, I’m going to try to keep it simple and maybe resolve it over the next month or so, because I’d like to consolidate down to fewer projects ongoing, but it’s been a really fun experiment so far.

I put together the whole CYOA story with text on my website for easier reading, since it can be a little disjointed on patreon. Check it out here if you’d like to read it in a continuous form.

This proves to be a sticky one for me just because your old pal Winton is a perfectionist sometimes and wants to fuss with things.

I got carried away reformatting and doing endsheets for all my stuff instead of just getting FfaL up and on the store so the good news is, when it goes up, everything will go up, but it’s going to take longer. I’ll give patrons a discount code for the physical comics, since you help make this possible in the first place.

So what I did get accomplished was create endsheets and do the InDesign formatting necessary for printing for all my comics except for “Jessica”, “Little Bird’s Bath” and the “Space Express” comics.

✅Start drawing Libby comic.

This little part of the last month you haven’t seen quite yet but I was working on it on Halloween and didn’t get to post yet, except for gold patrons who saw some of these thumbnails and a completed-ish script.

Unfortunately thumbnails really only need to be legible for me, so you’ll just have to take my word that they make sense

I’m still trying to make peace with the process of knowing what i’m doing in advance vs. totally making it up as I go. Longtime patrons know that sometimes dialog or whole pages change before the final comic gets released to the public. I’ve got 16 pages in thumbnail and 4 in rough, which I’ll be sharing more of soon. Here’s a preview of the first page.

My roughs tend to stay very rough, so once I get the first 5 or so down I’d like to clean them up  before moving on so that you have something to see after waiting so long. I’m currently planning to break the story up into two 20-30pg parts.

The story feels like it should go on for a little longer than some other comics, and I plan to keep the style more like some of the single color drawings I’ve been doing of the characters this month.

In the script I keep referring to this character as Dana but I haven’t quite solidified that yet. I think I’m going to give her a flower name, ultimately, like the hikers.


I probably shouldn’t be giving so much time to drawing her naked when she’ll be staying clothed for this story buuut what can ya do.

In the for funsies category this month I got to draw some monochromatic witches. For Halloween and it was a lot of fun, I hope you enjoyed them. ❤️
