Book 6 Early Access: Chapter 17

(Before I forget: the 4 Ronin videos for Book 3 start up this month! I'm made subtitles for them this time around, and I think it really takes them to the next level!)

Chapter 17 is honestly Chapter 16 Part 2, but there needed to be a break in the planning and "marshaling the troops" segment to give the reader a breather from the breather between story beats. That sounds a bit odd now that I've typed it out, but it's true!

We see MC really embrace the leadership role/"grown-up in the room" position that us readers have come to expect from them in situations like these. Whether it's with shogi players or nuns, the Tanimura Champions or Uesugi samurai, our protagonist always steps up in the end.

MC's lack of acknowledging their own capability as a leader is a good example of one of the blindspots they have. Even with all the evidence to the contrary, they still like to consider themself as no more than a ronin who's very good at killing people.

A certain mystery gets solved, and with it, a plan to take down the demon is made. I definitely had to dedicate some time to this mystery so that it didn't come off as a deus ex machina. We also have a fun aside as well, where the stakes get raised outside the school. This chapter is a bit on the short side, but expect heftier ones in the future!
