It took quite a while to heat up enough water to fill the bathtub enough to actually be able to take a bath, but it was worth it as Ellie stood next to the tub and saw the steam rising from the water. After searching the house and finding it empty and devoid of useful supplies, they noticed the old bathtub in the bathroom, and Ellie mentioned how nice it would be to be able to take a bath, but lamented the fact that there was no water. Struck by inspiration, Joel left the bathroom and began searching for a bucket, which he found in a closet and then took outside to the nearby stream. Ellie had been following him the whole time, curious about what he was up to, but she got excited when she realized he was going to fill up the bathtub for her. However, she was worried that the water might be too cold. "I'll freeze my tits off, Joel!" She exclaimed in concern, but Joel was prepared.

The final image has a very playful feel to it. Joel has joined Ellie in the bathtub, sitting behind her, and I'm a little surprised they were able to fit in the bathtub without much trouble. I think what I love the most about this image is the way they're touching each other. Ellie's right arm is resting on Joel's right leg, and his left hand appears to be stroking Ellie's hair, or perhaps brushing a stray strand of hair from her eyes. Either way, there's a familiarity and ease to the way they're touching, like they've done it many times before, and they're completely comfortable with each other, which makes sense, since they've probably been having sex for months at this point.

Having covered the background elements of the images, I've got to mention the true stars of the images, Ellie and Joel. Let's start with Ellie. DAMN! Since I mentioned the water, I was blown away by how great the water looked in these images. It sounds a little silly to get excited about something as mundane as water, but we're not talking about a photograph of the real world. We're talking about a work of art you created and made it appear as though it's a photograph of the real world. That being the case, the water looks AMAZING. I particularly love the way it seems to flow around both Ellie and Joel's bodies and how it almost hugs them. The more I look at the images, the more it feels like I can actually hear the water sloshing and splashing as Ellie and Joel move around in the bathtub. There are even places where you can see reflections in the surface of the water. That attention to detail always impresses me, and it's the mark of a truly great artist.

There's another element to the lighting that really impressed me the first time I saw it, and it's most noticeable in the second image where Ellie is sitting on the side of the bathtub with her back to the camera. I absolutely love the way the light from the window seems to make the inside of the bathtub glow. I'm guessing it's just a matter of the sunlight reflecting off of the white interior of the bathtub and possibly the surface of the water, but the effect is like pure magic. It appears as if the water is so warm that you can see the steam rising up, or that Ellie's legs are resting within a fluffy cloud that's found its way into the bathtub. However you look at it, it's a lovely effect and adds an incredible amount of beauty to the image.

Another element of the images that is absolutely perfect is the lighting. I love the single window in the room and the ambient light it provides. However, it's the small areas of intensely bright sunshine that really add an element of warmth and coziness to the images. Despite the dank and almost bleak looking interior of the bathroom, the sunlight is a reminder that there's still beauty in the world, and that beauty can find its way into even the most deplorable of places and revitalize them, even if only for a short while. Plus, I love the way the sunlight highlights portions of Ellie and Joel's bodies. It's like the sunlight is caressing their skin and adding a sensuality to the images.

Of course, the walls aren't the only element of the bathroom that have character. The tile floor has also seen better days, with some of the tiles cracked or broken or uprooted or just plain missing. And the faucet attached to the wall that supplied water to the bathtub looks rusted and dirty. And of course, there's the bathtub itself, which seems to be in decent condition, save for some stains and possible chips in the enamel. Overall, the bathroom sets a wonderful scene, a place of refuge that's seen better days but is still capable of providing comfort and respite from a harsh world.

FANTASTIC! This set of images is one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen. Everything about each image is impressive, but it's the immense amount of detail that makes the images truly spectacular. For instance, I love the look of the background. I know the walls don't exactly look pretty, but they're perfect for the world of The Last of Us. The walls look like they're covered in years worth of dirt, mold and mildew, which is exactly what you'd expect from a place that's been abandoned and left to the elements for decades. And while it may not look pretty or pristine, there's a wonderful amount of character given to the images through the look of the walls.
