Forgotten Golden Wheat Fields Remastered (& a notice regarding map polls)
Added 2025-06-16 14:26:49 +0000 UTCThe free archive is attached to the bottom of this post!
Ancient dilapidated farmland, left untended and overgrown. A place of unparallelled beauty, and an excellent location to find the local harvest cult or group of marauding bandits. Don’t get jumped out here - no matter how beautiful the arcades of trees are.
This is a remaster of a Miscellanea Maps classic!
Thoughts
Modern farmland is intensely misleading when it comes to population density. You were generally never further than 2,000 feet from the nearest cottage. (& where this map is concerned, while stone walls are situational (it was historically controversial when people started enclosing pastures in England, for example), any fertile land would likely be plastered with zig-zagging roads & minor hamlets so small that only the local officials may know their names.)
Good for a random encounter in any civilized or formerly-civilized area.
Jesus christ i still hate wasps. i should have drawn like a bear thing instead 4 years ago when i first made this.

Thanks for reading & your support! And if you’re not already a patron, why not bee-come one?
Wait, am I allowed to make bee puns for wasps?
A notice regarding map concept polling
I feel that the experiment regarding monthly map themes was a poor decision for various reasons — the most notable being:
It's objectively more fun to have a specific creative vision of yours realized.
There was broad confusion over the meaning of a theme. Most of the suggestions I initially received were concepts — good concepts!
When constrained to a given theme, very few ideas for specific concepts were submitted — not even enough for a poll! Obvious in retrospect given other pressures. Themes are a meta-level concern.
When a theme for a full month is the question, I believe the most generic theme will likely always win, because there will be generalized pressure towards broadly utilitarian concepts that's far more strongly expressed than preferences for a patron's specific creative vision.
Because of these & other reasons, I am reverting the monthly polls to previous behavior. Lords may submit specific concepts for July, all of which will be collated into a single monthly poll accessible to everyone, just as before.
That's all. Thanks for reading!
