stellar film all around! I highly recommend! I loved this story telling structure, cinematography, character design, atmosphere, acting, gore! I Just loved it!

I felt like the spell actually *was* completely broken, it was just the longer you were "under", the more mentally damaged you become. That's why Josh Brolin came back to normal right away, since he was only under for minutes. Children have underdeveloped brains, so it stands to reason they could actually make full recoveries (which is alluded to at the end by the narrator, who's probably several years past the events). Alex's parents, on the other hand, are probably gone for good. Barbarian is a banger, definite recommend. 2025-10-31 23:29:14 +0000 UTCFirst of all I'd just like to thank Zach Cregger for naming the drug addled loser character James. My first viewing of this film was with my fingers crossed. I'd heard so many good things about Cregger's previous film Barbarian and then found it to be a major letdown. But this film actually delivers the goods. Amy Madigan; long time, no see. What a great villain. Cary Christopher as Alex give a wonderfully heartbreaking performance. Just strong work from the entire ensemble. I do find it interesting that Josh Brolin's son is Alex's bully. Maybe he should have told him he loved him a few times. Great film and reaction.
