Halfway Broken - Final Relationship Poll

Alright everyone! This is it, the final option for Halfway Broken's harem/polycule/multi-ship/whatveryouwanttocallit. Currently, the relationship for the fic stands at LuffyxNamixRobinxVivi. As I've mentioned before, I'm only willing to juggle so many people. And no, I will not have them jump into random one-night stands with others either. I'm trying to depict a healthy polycule/multi-ship, rather than just write smut ;-).

Originally, I had intended it to only be three girls. However, the specific combination we ended up with is sufficiently compatible, personality wise, that I am comfortable adding a fourth. This will be the last girl added to the pairing, however. It's just not practical to expand past that, as the shipping would take over the story (which often kills stories by authors who can't keep their smut reflexes in check and keep adding more and more girls).

The remaining choices are all girls that I feel could mix well with the existing relationship. There are two important points to consider, however.

1) I've already decided Yamato is going to become a crewmember, before the timeskip, regardless of if she's part of the pairing. So don't worry about that.

2) We don't have to add another girl, if you think it's already hit the limit of sanity as is, vote for that! I know some people have expressed concerns, which I absolutely get. There's a reason I put a hard cap on the number I'd add ;-).

Now, the remaining options are...

(Poll will run through the end of December)

...Okay, depending on how this goes, I can absolutely see Hina X Perona ending up together anyway. I've been picturing Perona as the 'bratty sub' type. And Hina's handcuffs powers...

That's not entirely correct. Polycule is, essentially, the 'overall' term for such arrangements. With things like Harem being subsections. Technically, Harem refers to a relationship in which there's a single central element, with no relationships between the 'spokes' around that wheel. As in, Luffy would have a relationship with each girl, but they wouldn't have one with each other. When you extend relationships to also include relationships between the 'spokes,' it becomes a Polycule. A polycule can be like you describe it, with having only some of the group in relationships with each other. But it is also, so far as I'm aware, the word to describe when ALL of the individuals are involved with each other. In my opinion, lacking specific conditions such as coercion or large gender disparity, Harems are horrifically unstable. Heck, dig out a Bible, and even God's favorite King made an utter clusterfuck out of having a Harem situation by getting greedy and murdering another dude to bang said dude's wife. So did his kid, Solomon, whose name is synonymous with wisdom. Likewise, I tend not to consider the sort of polycule where only SOME people are together to be extremely unstable. They are basically an attempt to 'have your cake and eat it too' on a group scale, and it usually explodes messily. As a result, when I do multi-ships, I tend to only do ones in which everyone is involved with everyone else. The word for which, so far as I know, is still polycule. This is part of the reason I kept them on the smaller side, as there's only so many people that can be made compatible, and the number that will work decreases sharply with the more people involved. It also, of course, spikes the amount of story it takes over, as you have to show interactions between each of the different personality combinations.

Sad that best girl Perona is being ignored, poor girl needs some love(ing).

If it's a polycule the members don't have to all have a relationship with each other/it doesn't have to be them all having a relationship with Luffy. A polycule doesn't mean one central hub that all other members are in a relationship with. As an example, simply because nothing has been shown yet, Vivian could end up joining the relationship with Luffy, but Also start a relationship with Yamato, without Yamato having a relationship with Luffy. I am not saying that you should or shouldn't write whatever relationship you want to choose. Just that it is sounding more like a harem and not much like a polycule/just making an argument against calling it a polycule unless you end up having some of the girls have a relationship with each other that is as strong or even stronger with one another than one or both have with Luffy. Polycules are more multiple couples/pairings having relationships with other couples either individually or as couples. Harems are more one individual with relationships with multiple others.

I personally would really like to see perona as my first parring for her would be Zorro but I don't think kuina would share and the our luffSi is strongly compatible with her I think but I can already see it not happening*sad* but having her on the crew would be fun. Also a hinaXPerona would be extremely funny

personally I like yamato so I'm hoping for yamato to join love the stories brother keep up the amazing work

I won't say no to Yamato but three is enough. So 'No Additional Girl' but I won't mind if this is 'Yamato' who win.

Vick

I think this was a forgone conclusion people love yamato

You don't need to assume :-p. I listed the current pairing in the post: "Currently, the relationship for the fic stands at LuffyxNamixRobinxVivi" Personally, I think Yamato is probably the MOST compatible. But all three of them are compatible enough. Hina brings a degree of level headedness that none of the others possess, for example. While Perona could help bridge the maturity/experience gaps between Vivi and some of the others. Technically Perona is actually older and far more experienced than Nami, but doesn't act it.

Yamato works best as I assume it's Nami Robin Vivi at three, Yamato seems romantically flexible enough to handle being in such a relationship( in that she has no basis for a bias).
