I've been struggling to get anything done after going to the doc for a follow up on a new medication. It was making me super fuzzy and foggy, so they claimed 'well, sometimes with this, it makes you LESS foggy if you take more' and upped the dose. Surprise...so far that's not what's happened. I've been having a horrible time focusing enough to write. But I can at least say that I'm actually 100% happy with what I finally got down.
What I finally got down isn't small, either. It's actually just barely shy of 16,000 words and covers Aayla and Harry's adventure on Tatooine. To be honest, I was actually expecting to get through Tatooine in half that word count and move on to Tython. What I actually have, however, I'm very pleased with, even if it overran my estimate by a fair bit. I'm pretty sure everyone will like it :-).
Beyond saying that, I'll keep my commentary to the comments with a series of Author's Notes. Those are 100% spoiler heavy, so I suggest reading the new content before checking the AN comments. As usual, the new content is attached here in PDF, DocX, and Epub formats. I'll also be updating the story's Master Files in the Pinned Post shortly. Enjoy!

Y'know if you ever want to inject some mild horror into this fiction, Starweirds would be a nice touch. Especially since Izuku is so force sensitive and they're doing some deep-space shenanigans.

Chapter 47 AN 2: So, durindfire crystals are a thing. At least in the EU. Very few people knew about them, but the Jedi of the Halcyon Family (Corellian Jedi Order) were known to use them. The crystals gave their blades a silver/white tint. Which I thought would be a nice counterpoint to the golden blade the Heart of the Guardian gives Aayla's main saber. The bits about the Jawa using them are also EU canon. For that matter, the details about what happened to Tatooine shown in Chapter 46 are also EU canon. Including where the Jawas/Sand People came from.

2024-07-27 05:19:27 +0000 UTCChapter 46 AN 1: So, the Demon Blood Ritual is a quest chain from Star Wars the Old Republic. I modified it slightly, to make it a little bit more mystical and a little less reliant on a specific chain of events that were unlikely to still be viable after close to 4,000 years. I think the result worked out fairly well, honestly. As for the visions, I like how those turned out quite a bit. They start setting things up for events to come, while forcing Izuku and Aayla to face the reality of what the consequences for their chosen path might yet be.

2024-07-27 05:18:00 +0000 UTCChapter 45 AN 1: Watto. So, I'll address this here, even if he's really related to both this chapter and onwards. You might not agree with my interpretation of him. That's okay. I wrote the bits about him as every single instance I used as an example of his treating Shimi okay is CANON. Either actual current Canon, or at least EU canon. In fact, I didn't even go into some of the more telling stuff, as it hasn't happened yet. He originally refused to sell her to Craig Lars because he considered the offer of an entire landspeeder in trade for her to be insulting to Shimi. Then actually tries to convince Shimi later that it's a bad idea by showing her how hard moisture farming work is, and that her life would be rough if she went that way. All signs seem to point to him actually caring about her to an extent. Is Watto a Good man? No. Is he actually a fairly decent one by Tatooine standards? All evidence seems to say he IS. So that's the interpretation I went with. Chapter 45 AN 2: Things with Mei are beginning to escalate! Her inclusion isn't going to be immediate, but obviously things are heading that way ;-).

It's just another fun bit of play for them. Which technically served a purpose...even if one they are having fun with ;-). Chapter 44 AN 2: The Marstrap family and the Hydroponic Garden thing is at least EU cannon. Though the specific character is not. That family is mentioned somewhere or other as being who the Lars homestead sells water to. With one of their kids being among Luke's friends growing up, I think. Chapter 44 AN 3: Aayla's opinion of the High Council here reflects my own firmly. I actually DO get the point of not keeping them all in contact with their families. But actively leaving one of their kid's family is slavery is just stupid. You're trying to make a bunch of stable, well-functioning people. So leaving GIANT EMOTIONAL LANDMINES in the past of someone already a bit of an edge case is just too moronic for words.
