Okay, I'll stop being over-dramatic. Mostly.
Anyway, I've been saying for the last...3-4 months? Something like that. I've been saying for a few months at least that I wanted to get at least a small update out for Harry Potter- Pandora's Box. It and Mass Effect:Eridium Dreams have both lost out in every poll for the last six months to One Piece: Halfway Broken. That's hardly a bad thing! I'm pleased everyone likes Halfway Broken as much as they do! But I don't want either of the other secondary stories to outright die, either. Hence why, in January, I managed to do a small update for Eridium Dreams.
Like that update, this one is only around 5.5k. Just a mini-update to keep the story going! I intend to keep doing that, when it's possible, for both fics. Though as you can see from how long it took me to get this one out, my schedule is pretty tight. Basically anything going wrong in a month can shoot down any chance of extra writing time, so little updates for the non-winning stories like this one might be pretty far apart. Particularly as it will always be the 'least recently updated' fic that gets any such update. In other words, the next mini-update would be for Eridium Dreams, unless it won the Secondary Story Poll by some miracle.
That said, if you want to see more of this fic outside of mini-updates, keep in mind that it's consistently taken second place in the Monthly Story Poll which will still be ongoing through the 25th! Given that Pandora's Box hasn't been updated since I first launched the Patreon Page, that means it might just have a chance with an infusion of new content ;-). Even if One Piece: Halfway Broken is a steep mountain to climb over...
As always, the new content of the story is here in PDF, Epub, and Docx formats. And I'll update the Pinned Post with a new master file set sometime later today. It's like 2am right now, so I'm putting this post on a release timer, but I don't think I can do that with post updates, so...the mater file will probably be up sometime in the late afternoon or early evening.

2024-08-16 22:12:55 +0000 UTCWell that's high praise! But hearing (or reading I guess) you gush about it certainly makes me smile :-)! I absolutely feel your pain on the One Piece fics, too. For some reason, that particular series seems to mostly generate rehash and smut fanfiction. You have to wade through a LOT of that to find something that is a bit more original. I happen to really dislike stores that adhere too closely too canon in any series, though. So I always make the effort to diverge, and do so intelligently. Sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. But eventually all of my stories even up pretty AU in the end. So far as I'm aware, the Runes explanation is entirely my own creation, so I'm not surprised you haven't seen that before. The AI is a little less original, though I can't think of any cases of it being used in HP fiction before. I mostly drew inspiration from AI characters like Cortana (Halo) or EDI (Mass Effect), but reimagined it in a way that the execution could be handled by magic instead of technology. As for character strengths...Over Powered characters can be fun ;-). But I tend to prefer allowing there to still be a struggle. Thankfully, a lot of settings have the good guys SO outclassed that there's room to make them stronger without making them fully broken. If you're careful it often, ironically, actually makes the stories more believable rather than less, since you don't have to dish out abrupt Power Ups out of nowhere. Which happens in a lot of long-running anime when the Power Creep slowly gets out of the author's/creator's control...

2024-06-25 23:56:58 +0000 UTCThis was exquisite. I originally found your One Piece fan fiction this morning and spent a large chunk of my day reading every chapter currently available. I then checked out your other fan fictions to see if any of them interested me, and I just finished this one and have plans to read the My Hero Academia one too! I LOVE your writing. First of all, the high level of grammar and overall technical writing ability is rare (especially for One Piece works) and therefore very appreciated. Second of all, your creativity is very refreshing. You are not scared to deviate from canon which is such a relief since I have trouble finding new One Piece fan fiction that doesn't rehash canon, and isn't just terrible smut without any plot of interest. For example, your magical AI in this HP fanfic is something I have NEVER seen in the THOUSANDS of HP fan fiction I have read so far (except for a few HP x Avengers crossovers and even then it is usually just Hogwarts or a magically aided Jarvis). I very much enjoy the fact that it is different from either a Gamer System or a sane Tom Riddle Horcrux entity. Your explanation for runes and enchanting is also intriguing (which I am not surprised by since your spirit fruit concept in your OP fanfic is once again unique). Finally, your characters' strength is explained and makes complete sense, but you don't go overboard (I am actually super lenient with overpowered characters as long as their strength increase is thoroughly explained so your characters in your OP work are even a good deal below my limit). And when your characters end up stronger, you don't find a bullshit way to make fights that should be easy peasy into a life threatening situation, but you still end up making then interesting by organising your characters and their interactions differently. Anyways I could go on and on about how amazing I find your writing, although it is a little sad that I find the concept of original ideas in creative writing to be so praise-worthy... I know this is an essay you didn't ask for haha, but I couldn't finish the day without thanking you for providing me with the best reading experience I've had in a while. I truly hope you will continue to update regularly (though at your own pace of course), and I look forward to your MHA work that I'll get started on tomorrow, as well as any future updates!
