One Piece - Halfway Broken (Ch 22-25)

Whew! I was working on this one right up until the last minute! Of course, part of the reason for that is that it's over 15,000 words! Another part is that it's honestly almost entirely original content, given that most of the bad guys from the Easy Blue had already been handled before canon actually started. Still, it's built around a core of canon material...just reimagined a lot. I think people will like it? I hope.
Anyway! This is actually the last release where they'll spend significant time in the East Blue. As of the next release of this work, they'll be off to the Grand Line! As I've been doing with many releases recently, I'll put some Author's Notes in the comments. And, as always, the new content is attached here in both PDF and Epub formats. I will also, of course, be updating the master files in the pinned thread shortly.

Chapter 25 A/N: A bit of a slice-of-life chapter for the most part. But there are two new Systems introduced here. The reason for that is, frankly, because several people have brought to my attention that Luffy's System isn't actually doing all that much. Part of that was on purpose, as I don't want him to end up over the top powerful like a lot of Gamers end up. But I think I initially erred on the side of too little rather than too much. The introduction of the Mapping and Karma systems are intended to boost the Gamer element just a touch, without giving him any particularly broken abilities.

It might take away a bit of the impact of what they found, I'm afraid. But...if it does it does. And it served as a reality check for the crew anyway. One that the Original Crew never seemed to actually get, aside from Robin, who didn't need it in the first place... A/N 2: The storm-creation thing! So...that's not going to be something they do often, if ever...for obvious reasons. But, from what I could find out about cloud formation it SHOULD be possible. Particularly as the One Piece world really does seem to have a better understanding of that than ours does. Frankly, it's surprising to me how utterly shit our own understanding of clouds and how weather works actually is. I had to dig into theoretical research papers to determine if clouds are effected by electrical charges or not...

Though my guesswork seems to line up with other people's as well. I also felt that dealing with it was something Luffy would want to do...and it served as a bit of a catalyst for another East Blue adventure. That said, forgive me if I got anything about it wrong, as it was hard to find anything definitive about it...
