Can One Displaced Hero Save the Galaxy? (29-32)

Alright! Release time! Just a quick note, first. None of the attached images are mine. They are simply references taken from various lore sights for a few of the ships that appear in these chapters. The original Liberator Starfighter (not quite identical to what will show up in the story), a Loronar Medium Transport, and a YT-1000. Sadly, the other two mentioned ships don't have known visual images, only statistics. I thought I'd provide references for the ones that I could, though!

Anyway! These chapters amount to over 14,000 more words, and really start getting the snowball rolling for Izuku and Co getting themselves established a bit. There are going to be timeskips, given that weren't still something like 8-9 years prior to the Clone Wars at this point, that much is inevitable if I don't want this to drag on for several million words. But the timeskips will be a matter of weeks or a month or two at a time, not whole years. There's a lot that I'm intending to have happen between before that time period...and enough disruption to the timeline that there's no certainty that the Clone Wars will happen at the same time. The absolutely won't happen the same exact way...

Anyway! I hope you enjoy seeing the beginnings of Izuku's plans begin to come together. There's also, I'll note, another Aayla-POV-Chapter. Differing points of view are going to be a bit more common going forward. But they'll generally only be single chapters and they won't be the majority. They simply allow me to show things that I couldn't otherwise. Such as a snapshot or two of...well...no spoilers ;-). As I've been doing the last few updates, I'll provide a bit of chapter commentary as comments on this post, once I get everything up!

On that note, as always, the Epub and PDF versions of the new content are here as attachments, and I'll be updating the Master Files in the Pinned Post shortly.

*makes a so-so motion* The problem with that logic is that Palpatine was actually the senator for the entire Chommell sector. It's highly likely that, even after becoming Supreme Chancellor, he'd arranged for that sector to continue being a strong supporter. He certainly continued to watch and manipulate Padme, using her as a major piece in his grand plans to set the galaxy on fire. That, plus the length of time he was involved in Naboo politics, likely mean he's still got ears there. It's very possible he might miss the importance of some random company that frees slaves operating through Naboo...but given his own Force Foresight, it's equally possible hearing about it would give him some sort of warning. Honestly, I can see the argument either way, which is part of why I'm undecided. Particularly since even getting his attention isn't bad in the sense of storytelling, necessarily. It's just a matter of when, after all. And I can't write everything always going the good guy's way ;-). There are also a few things about Naboo, such as their connection to the Nubia Stardrive Collective, that would attract Izuku and Co's attention at certain points of the plan. Mei can't design EVERYTHING herself, after all...

Looking forward to seeing what effects our people will cause. And about Naboo, while yes its Palpy's homeworld, but as its after he has gotten elected as Supreme Chancellor, his eyes are not on Naboo much, as it has already served its purpose. And he has less of a connection to and power over the planet, as he is not its Senator. But no matter what, I can't wait for you to release more of this great story! Thanks for the story so far!

I'm glad you enjoyed it :-)! For the timeline...at the end of chapter 32 it is almost the end of 31 BBY. The clone wars start in 22 BBY (the count is backwards, as BBY stands for Before Battle of Yavin, which the fan community started using decades ago as a reference point). That means, if nothing changes, they have about 8 full years until The Clone Wars. Of course, some of the long-term plans will likely cause some shifting to that as the galaxy reacts... As for Alderaan and Naboo. They will almost certainly get involved with Alderaan in their more non-violent pursuits for rescued slaves. Naboo...part of me wants them to get involved, part of me wants to avoid it like the plague. It's pretty close (relatively) to the region they will be operating in. So it getting involved makes sense. On the flip side...it's Palpatine's Homeworld. So if they make waves on Naboo, they WILL attract his attention... I haven't actually decided which way to go with Naboo specifically.

Thanks for the chapters! Good to see things moving forward and that they are of to a good start! I don't remember what year it is right now in the story, but I hope they can get some kind of working relationship, with Alderaan and Naboo, around their activities! Alderaan should not be a problem and if Padme is still the Queen of Naboo, they should also not have a problem there, right? In any case, I'm looking forward to reading much more of this great story! Can't wait for the next release!

Chapter 32 A/N 1: Confession time. I'm 100% a ship nerd. You might have figured that out by now. I'll always give preference to at least trying to make ships ones that actually exist. At least until a point is reached that they start making their own designs from scratch. That said, there often isn't a lot of detail on the various ships. A/N 2: Confession time the second. I've always liked the idea of the Atarian Rangers and have long been disappointed how little they show up or are used. Since I wanted to make at least SOME action happen this chapter, I thought it would be a good time to introduce a few of them as well. This won't be the last we see of them...

Chapter 31 A/N: So! Differing perspectives! As I said in the post, I'm intending to use these sparingly. But they DO serve a needed function of being able to give us a glimpse into what is happening elsewhere. Here, it let me skim over Aayla's need to be seen back at the Jedi Order, without simply having her vanish for a few months. It also lets me develop the characters in a bit more depth, I think...

Chapter 30 A/N: Yes! New Cov actually is a world that exists in Star Wars Legends. As is that tapcaf! It's actually featured in Timothy Zahn's Dark Force Rising, if only briefly. It happened to be located in the vague area I want them operating in as well, so I decided to use it. As for Zoh...it technically also exists. But no location was given for it. This is, in fact, why I used it. The various Junk Worlds that we DO know the existence of were all too far away from the region I intend most of their operations to happen in. So I took advantage of Zoh not having a known location to put it in that region. The same is also true of the Ship Graveyard. It IS present in the Legends lore, but only in a single story, and its location is only given as 'the edge of the galaxy.' I built on that a little, in a way I think is fairly logical, and put it at the edge of the same region.

Chapter 29 A/N: So, I kinda agree with Mei about ship design in Star Wars. Obviously, a lot of the issues are because all the various eras are actually being written from OUR era. Which makes it a little hard to conceive of major tech differences. Yet, even so, the authors were seriously lazy when they've made various ships from various eras. A lot of the time they might as well be cut and paste, with no major changes between them. Mei isn't going to take that lying down forever. But for now, she's still learning. Which is where the updated Liberator came from. The logic behind it is basically all described by Mei. The only extra note from me is about why it was in the Infinite Engine's database. The Liberator was in use even BEFORE Darth Revan's Sith adventure. Since I don't want them to be stuck using all Sith Ships, I'm making the logical assumption that Revan would have updated the IES with Republic Designs as well as Sith designs. Why wouldn't he, after all? Particularly if he updated the library after he went back to being a Jedi. There will also being a few other ships that ended up being absorbed by the Infinite Engine's territory on Nar Shadda before its caretakers kicked the bucket. But I'll keep those to a minimum. Really, there's only one that I explicitly want, for reasons that will be gone into when it is made in-story.

Alright! Time for some Author's Notes! Note that the comments under this one might contain spoilers! It's recommended you only read them after their relevant chapters!
