My Hero Automata - Chapters 55-58
Added 2024-03-01 23:31:40 +0000 UTCOkay! This is a big one folks! Or...an important one? Size wise, it's over 10,000 words. So not small at all in that sense. But it's really one of the events covered that make me say it's 'a big one.' As in, it contains one of the first really major divergences to the timeline. Said divergence won't have an immediate impact...but it will radically alter events downstream, as it were. It also happens to be one of the critical scenes I had planned since basically Day 1.
In light of this, I'm going to be including a series of Author's Notes as comments to this post. All of them are spoiler heavy, so I recommend not reading them until you read their respective chapter. Though the REALLY important one is for Chapter 57. You definitely shouldn't read that one until after the chapter, or you'll ruin one of the critical moments of the entire fic. I'm including the A/N because I know people are going to have questions though.
Also, hopefully the art looks a bit better? I ran it through some filters and tweaking to try and fix the mess the shading was.
Anyway. As always, the new chapters are attached here as both PDF and Epub. I'll update the Master Files in the Pinned Post as well, after I do the A/N Comments.

*blink* Ummm? I'm going to answer that last part first, since I'm very very confused/concerned why you think it's hard to access chapters? All stories are contained in full, in the Master Files in the post Pinned at the very top of the Patreon. (https://www.patreon.com/posts/story-master-85851156) The Master Files contain all chapters up to current. Even if that wasn't true, all chapters that aren't in Patreon Early Access are still on Fanfiction.net (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14259915/1/My-Hero-Automata) and ScribbleHub (https://www.scribblehub.com/series/993896/my-hero-automata/). As for Ao3. I did not voluntarily remove my works from there. The moderators removed all my works by force, for some very bullshit reasons. You can get the ending of a long saga about that here: https://www.patreon.com/user/posts?u=93048562 My public versions of my works are all available on ScribbleHub, and everything but Mass Effect: Final Error is also available on Fanfiction.net. I'm also in the process of making the available on Wattpad as well, with intentions to post on Questionable Questing as well. They simply aren't available on Ao3, because the staff there are apparently complete assholes.

And many of her more recent appearances have had her dealing with serious topics to some extent. It's less that she's holding back, more that we haven't seen her unstressed out. With the death of All for One, she might relax a little. At least until the next disaster...

The start of the clusterfuck that made a friendly(ish) power try to give the world a chance is finally being hinted at, with the tiny little scene at the end of this chapter.

2024-03-02 00:14:32 +0000 UTCChapter 57 (A/Ns): YES All for One is dead. I want to be very clear about that. He's not coming back. No sudden reversals, no come backs, no resurrections. He's kicked the bucket, bought the farm, shuffled off the mortal coil. He's not shaking this one off. As far as I'm concerned Gran Torino stole the body, burned it, then made sure some of the ashes were buried on each of the seven continents. That doesn't mean his influence is fully gone, since his Quirk is still with Doctor Giraki. Which means the vestige isn't 100% gone. But the original All for One is toast and won't be coming back. As for how he died? That railgun is more the sort of thing you'd find mounted on a spaceship or naval cruiser, power wise. Only made man-portable by what amounts to magic (YoRHa Maso technology). It absolutely had the ability to hurt him...if he didn't get the chance to pull up the right set of Quirks. Which is why 2B/Izumi didn't fire right from the start. They patiently waited until he was 90% distracted. Add in his crippled senses and there's simply no way he noticed it in time to pull up the right Quirks to block or survive the shot. No more brain, no more heart. No more All for One. As for the Fact that Izumi/2B were willing to take the shot? I hope I've established this by now, but Izumi is NOT Izuku. She's significantly more pragmatic and realistic than he was. When she hears that there's a Super Villain that her idol actively tried to kill, not capture, because he was that dangerous? Then finds out that Villain is likely to come for her girlfriend/lover? You better believe assassination is on the table. Doubly so since she's been more thoroughly exposed to the dangers of the world. There is no chance. Literally NO chance. That multiple someone's haven't tried to kidnap Momo in the past. Momo's quirk is the single most broke Quirk in the history of Quirks. Fuck All for One, One for All, and New Order all three. Momo can turn McDonald's cheeseburger's into Nuclear Weapons and put them in trashcans at random. Not to mention having access to infinite wealth. If she were a Villain, she'd make All for One look like a sad, sorry joke. Every single government, terrorist group, and villain organization on the planet would want Momo either their's or dead. As far as I'm concerned, the only way she made it to adulthood was her parents having VERY good security. Including probably some active wet works teams used to eliminate threats to their daughter. That isn't to say that Izumi won't have some mixed feelings and a bit of trauma from premeditated cold-blooded assassination. That will be dealt with (Hint: There's a reason I put a person with that experience near her. Double Hint: Lady Nagant). His death isn't going to change the next few Arcs that much, by the by. Remember, he was stuck in Tartarus for a while. All for One is technically irrelevant for the next few arcs one way or another, even in canon.

2024-03-02 00:11:25 +0000 UTCChapter 56 (A/N): So, the primary comment here is to address why the Exams actually changes LESS then I'd imagine some of you expected, giving my overhauls to the Tournament and Training Camp Arcs. Simply put...the Provisional Exams were actually well done in canon, in my opinion. The changes I DID make here are reflecting two things. 1) All Might hasn't been forced to publicly retire and his Era hasn't collapsed as a result. The HPSC is worried about different things here. Which is why the first part of the exams changed into an Anti-Swarm tactics test. They are primarily spooked about that sort of thing happening. 2) The UA students in particular are much better prepared than they were in canon.
