My Hero Automata (50-54)

I'm afraid this particular release is more action-packed than romantic ;-), but I figured I'd release it a day early anyway, given the 'holiday.' It does have one of the more epic action sequences I've written for the story so far, and it's a pretty decent length too. Right around 11,000 words, to add to the 6,500 of earlier this month, for a total monthly release for My Hero Automata of 17,500ish. Not bad, I think! Pretty close to the zone I was aiming for. Technically, I was aiming between 18-20k (though officially I had said between 15-20k) and this landed pretty close.
Honestly, the only reason I didn't go that little bit more was because this release essentially encapsulated the Training Camp arc. Though events don't resemble canon...pretty much at all. Going any farther would have opened up a new arc, only to not get very far with it. So I stopped it where I did as it was a more natural point to pause at. As always, new chapters are attached here in PDF and Epub format, and I'll update the Master Files in the Pinned Post right after I post this.
P.S. I technically worked more on the art piece. But I ran into the bane of my existence. Namely, that I've never really figured out shading. And also apparently didn't quite leave myself enough extra depth to 'black' to really make the shadows work properly. It's not the worst result ever, and I'll probably move onto one of the other stories to get some basic art done for them for now. But I'm also likely to return to give the shading on this one a second attempt at some point, as I'm very not happy with it -_-. Particularly the hair, where my attempts at shading made things actively worse -_-.

Yep! That's actually exactly what I modeled it on (the anime version). Back when I first revealed it, I added a random fanart link (https://www.deviantart.com/ayyasap/art/Amaha-Masane-793900312) for people unfamiliar with Witchblade. Since you obviously are, though, it's essentially very similar to the anime version of the Witchblade armor. The uncensored version. I think there's a version where they grayed out a lot more of her skin. *Edit* If anything, Momo's emergency version actually covers less than that Fanart version. It's very much bikini armor. The more complete version she made for underwater work probably covers just a bit more than the Fanart link, essentially, enough to comply with the costume requirements that came into effect after Midnight's original costume ;-).

2024-02-16 05:17:54 +0000 UTCAs it happens, Jirou is the only one that is possible. Originally, I wanted to and have been attempting to push them together a bit. But it hasn't been clicking quite right. If that keeps up, it may not happen at all. It's still a somewhat strong possibility, though.
