Hatsune Miku, also known as CV01, was the pioneering Japanese VOCALOID developed and distributed by Crypton Future Media, Inc. Released in August 2007 for the VOCALOID2 engine, she marked the beginning of the Character Vocal Series and became the seventh VOCALOID overall. Voiced by Saki Fujita, Miku's popularity led to subsequent expansions, including 'Append' voice libraries and upgrades for VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 engines, which introduced English and Mandarin Chinese voicebanks. In August 2019, Miku received her first voicebank outside of VOCALOID, called Piapro Studio, Crypton continued their collaboration with YAMAHA, offering both VOCALOID and Piapro Studio editions.
