math is hard...but good thing you help me out.

EscapefromExpansion

Well I just checked my answers and I got cosecant and secant mixed up (I usually did this). Secant is 1/cos and Cosecant is 1/sin. You actually would want to do a trig identity. Sec^2(theta) is the same thing as "tan^2(theta) + 1". The answer works out to 4/3 but I want to clarify that! Man being sick does not make doing maths easy.

Trigo seems easy...but I think it's a hard subject...and I forgot how to calculate it many times. You're not alone on this one...

EscapefromExpansion

that's a very great explanation...thank you for your hard work...

Alright I'll try my hand at this. We need to find the hypotenuse first to solve for sin, cos, cosec, and sec. You can solve this since you know two sides so pythagoras is the easiest way. If you happen to know this off of memory, its 13! So now we can solve for those! sin(theta) = 5/13 cos(theta) = 12/13 tan(theta) = 5/12 cosec(theta) = 13/5 sec(theta) = 13/12 cot(theta) = 12/5 As for the second part of these problems, you will need a calculator or know your unit circle. For the most part, you can use a unit circle. Regarding sin(120) and cos(150), I will assume this means degrees since it makes sense for it to be degrees but I would need the degree symbol to know for sure it means degrees. sin(pi/6) = 1/2 cos(pi/2) = 0 sin(120) = sqrt(3)/2 or 0.866. cos(150) = -sqrt(3)/2 or -0.866 tan(3pi/2) = DNE (does not exist) because this is -1/0 and you cannot divide by 0. Ah secant squared. Secant is just 1/sin so we can see this as (1/sin(7pi/6))^2. sin(7pi/6) is -sqrt(3)/2 and I will not convert it to decimal form because we are squaring it and it wont matter. We lose the negative due to squaring it as well. This will resolve to 1/(3/4). We know multiply the main numerator (1/1) by the flipped main denominator (3/4 becomes 4/3) because that is how it works with fractions divided by fractions. sec^2(7pi/6) = 4/3 What a long explanation I had to make! I look forward to more problems (and IQ expansion!)

I have no idea how to do any of this. I only got as high as geometry. Algebra 2 kicked my ass, couldn't do it, forget calculus or anything higher.

I understand the feeling...but no worry, some hero will come to save us. We're here to see the expansion. haha
