Ramble #32

Oh the deep, deep relief of releasing a Ramble! There's nothing like it.

Today it's bucketing down with rain, but yesterday I grabbed a break in the clouds to go walk around the preserve and chatter about community and queerness and activism and different types of grief and trees and practices. The usual, I suppose.

Mentioned in this episode:

I also talked about two photos, which I'm putting here side by side because I want to remember that both these feelings are true at once:

I hope you find something resonant in here. I hope there's finally a moment of peace in your world, after the chaos of Thanksgiving and December and the New Year and everything happening all at once. I hope you're warm and dry and there are no strange leaks you couldn't see until the weather got really bad.

I hope I get to record something again soon.

P.S. Transcript attached if you're a reader rather than a listener, but I'll tell you there are some real good squelchy mud footsteps and running water sounds in this one.

Aughh yes that last sentence!! Nailed it. It's good to hear from you, Rachel. I'm glad this resonated for you 💛

Finally made time for this, oh my god Lucy this was beautiful, thank you so much. I also think so much about things around anticipatory grief - like when you expect to be let down so you just pre-let-yourself-down, and it actually just hurts everything more, unnecessarily. We think we're protecting ourselves, "being realistic," but what's realistic about hurting yourself before you even know what's going to happen??

Ginger-molasses!!! That sounds so heavenly and cozy. I had the urge to make cookies yesterday and feel like I should probably follow it this morning.

Good morning! It's good to hear from you, listening with a cup of coffee and a couple of homemade ginger-molasses cookies. I love your descriptions of the preserve and would love to explore it one day, I feel like I get a more vivid picture of it every time you Ramble there. A lot of deep feelings here, I'm glad you're finding a way to process things <3
