A Thing That Will Help

If you were a Patron back in 2020, you might remember this livestream I ran with my pal Wendell Britt about his coaching course, Mastering the Game of Allyship. (We also ran a month-long mini-workshop version of the material here on Patreon for $10+ folks, which is something I'd love to repeat in the future with some other subject matter. Food for thought...)

ANYWAY: the important thing is that Wendell is finally Kickstarting a book version of the course! Mastering the Game of Allyship is about showing up for others (and ourselves) from a place of enthusiasm and kinship, rather than guilt and overwhelm. It's made a huge difference in my own activism and I really, really want to see it succeed. It's going to be a grassroots effort, because this work is still finding its audience, but I believe in it.

We're exposed to such an overwhelming amount of pain on a daily basis. I start to tango with a sense of fatalism when the world seems as out of control as it does now. Maybe you do, too. Any efforts—especially, often, things I do online—leave me feeling unfulfilled, anxious, and not-good-enough.

This book will help with that.

The work we did in Wendell's course got me thinking about my fundamental values, which it turns out are an amazing source of energy and grounding during times of struggle. It gave me maps for connecting with people I love, building things together, and leaning on creativity and storytelling as an avenue for nurturance and transformation. With these tools, I'm able to remind myself that I'm not trying to fix war or racism or aging or injustice or...anything. I'm just trying to embody the values that make me feel most like myself, and in doing so create a ripple effect that moves the world closer to the way I believe it can be. Small actions create bigger shifts, and so on.

I'm writing about this here because one of my ally superpowers (the tools or traits Wendell's book explores as sources of renewable energy for activism) is YOU, this amazing community of thoughtful, compassionate people. I hope you're able to give the campaign a look, chip in some dollars, or pass it along to someone in your life who could use it.

(Also, just as a sidebar: I've Rambled in the past about feeling tired of talking about Me Stuff all the time. This is what I want that alternative to that to look like: lifting up people in this Patreon crew! If you've got something you're working on or excited about, shoot me an email or a message and maybe I can feature it somehow in the future.)

Okay, that's that. Onward and upward!
