Thanks to the hidden scene at the end of the previous episode, we knew we would have Koichi's mom during this one. And even if I would have preferred for this episode to give us more about his background, we had something we expected, the famous love triangle the writers are creating between Makoto, Pop Step and Koichi. I'm not choosing a side on that dilemma because I think none is accurate right now.
I found it sad that Koichi's mom diminishes that much her son's successes : he's all by himself at 19 in Tokyo, doing his studies, finding work, and she knows he's doing activities to help people (not as a vigilante, but still). And, even if I understand that she did it because she was afraid, she was the one to punish Koichi so much as a baby when he was flying, that he totally forgot that he could and how.
