Guys, this first episode left me so shocked and speechless. The opening scene ? With Liandrin calling all of her dark sisters to defend her and all of them escaping together ? (not even sure they all left, maybe we still have rats inside) Egwene went into the Arches and IT DIDN'T LAST FOR EVEN 5 MINUTES ? Everyone got attacked during the night and in fact it's because of Lanfear, Lan and Moiraine who worked together to scare them ? WTF. Not even talking about the end with the spider Forsaken…
The rhythm of this first episode is going so fast, no break and no simple discussion, everything is big. And everything can only be big after that, with Rand leaving for the Aiel Waste with Egwene, Perrin coming back home, Mat and Nynaeve staying at the Tower. I trust no one in that Tower, I'm afraid for all my babies and what is gonna happen to them. Previous seasons were awful, they suffered a lot and have ptsd from them, but no, it's not enough, or worse, it was just the beginning.

I think Egwene is getting her own arc this season, and I think it's gonna be in fact an amazing one. Being tortured all previous season, she's now strong, fearless, and when before she wanted to prove herself at the Tower, to be noticed, now she just doesn't care about what people thinks and she just goes for it, to use her powers and to understand them. I think this season, Egwene is gonna be her getting her "independence" in fact, thinking about herself.

2025-03-17 09:24:25 +0000 UTCyou have a point about setting an unattainable pace from the start - if they do decide to slow things down later on, I hope it won't ruin the story. good catch on the opening scene - I was totally shocked when it happened. I think that the whole point of Egwene's trip through the arches was to show us "Bad Rand" - a strange choice given everything that she went through in the last season. I hope they are not reducing her character to a surrogate for Rand's choices - she definitely deserves her own arc. I get what you mean about LanFear - she's meant to be a bit edgy, but in a "fun" way - but her character's development has been simply as an antagonist for the heroes - I don't see any deeper motivations for her behaviour (so far). Still, a good start.
