We're back with our characters like we never left them. No time jump in the story, we deal directly with the consequences of the end of the previous season, and we follow the characters trying to find their roles in this "new world". They have ideas, they know what they think and what they have to do, but they still have doubts about it. And this surprise attack just confirms things to them, that's it, they take decisions and they're going for it.

I swear that you can apply that first paragraph to all of them. To Caitlyn who lost her mother, who is full of anger but also who feels so guilty because she didn't stop Jinx when she could. She knows she had to chase the girl, and at the end, she knows how. To Vi who lost hope of having her sister coming back to reason, who knows she has to stop her but she would want to do that on her own. At the end, she accepts to take the uniform because she needs help and she wants to protect people she likes. To Jayce and Mel who are desperate by the situation, who know what everyone is waiting for them but would have wanted to do stuff like they have it in mind, but the situation blocks them.
