The end with Homelander and Butcher intervening, it's clearly a good way to make the connection between this spin-off and the original show The Boys. For Homelander to take the side of Cate and Sam was clearly not a surprise for me : I even talked about it in the intro, Sam and Cate want to use their powers freely, to have no one blocking them, and the ones who did it are humans without powers. So they will clearly take Homelander's side, and even go further with that. Cate is leading the pack.

I explained also that I didn't know where to stand with Sam : I wanted to help him and I love his relationship with Emma, but the fact he killed so many people and showed no remorses, was not disturbed about it… it disturbed me. In front of Emma, he was acting rough and then he asked Cate to erase the tiny doubt/regret he could have left, and he locked the memory of his brother. The symbolic of that, to let him into the Woods, where he was tortured, the place representing his past etc.
