I have to chisel away some grime on these characters before I can start polishing.

It's a good choice to humanize the villans a bit. It gives them some depth and sometimes motivation for why they do ehat they do. You've proven yourself a talented storyteller and every update is a treat. Take care of yourself and looking forward to what you come up with next.
