I don't feel lost when I'm discovering this show because I know The Boys, so not only do I know the rules of this universe but also the mood that the writers put into it. So, even if we had a lot of wtf shocking moments in this first episode, it's not as impressive as it would be in a totally new show. But clearly, I was "disturbed" by how Marie discovered her power and killed her parents because of it, and I was totally surprised they would kill a character at the end.
For me, Luke was an interesting character and like all of the other ones presented here, he was not just introduced but also built well, with a background, with secrets, with deeper things the viewers would want to discover. So to kill him here felt so weird ! Even if they warned the public about a potential su*idal situation. I thought at some point it could be Marie and even more Emma. Let's say it, Emma is already my favorite one, she's so nice, sweet and clever, and I felt so sad for her : people bullying her, not considering her, what she has to do to use her power is so bad, and clearly that guy using her for s*al things…

You never saw The Boys ? If you appreciated this show, maybe you should try it, even if yes it can be really dark... because it talks about humans biggest darknesses, and true ones.

2024-08-28 09:49:45 +0000 UTCLOL @ quirks hahaha They're both about super powered teens in superhero schools, so I don't blame you. This was a lot for the first episode, but it was such a good hook. I felt like they were able to introduce a lot of story seeds and characters without it being overwhelming. Also, the fact that they killed both Brink and Golden Boy was a really good shock. I like all of the female characters in this show. I feel like they were all really well written. It's hard to pick who'd be my favorite, but I think I'll go with Cate for reasons I cannot say yet. hahaha I really enjoyed this season. Looking forward to your reactions. :)
